Gerald C. Gentile was born on July 23, 1930.  He left this world on March 9, 2021.  Gerald leaves behind his loving wife, Louise (Masciangelo), his two sons, Peter(Debra) and  Anthony, six grandchildren, Alyssa & Erica, Jake, Justin, and Morgan Gentile.  He joins in heaven, his grandson, Nicholas Gentile.

Jerry was a 1948 graduate of Edison Technical Institute.  He started his career at Eastman Kodak in 1949, where he worked for 9 years, prior to joining the Rochester Police Department in 1958.  He served the public as a proud member of the RPD for 22 years before retiring in 1980.  After his service with the RPD, he held various security positions for Eastman Kodak retiring once again in 1992.  Jerry had tremendous entrepreneurial spirit in business and developed and owned a product patent, which he solicited in the 1970’s.

Jerry had various sporting interests that included boxing, handball, softball and racquetball.  He was also very involved in youth sports.  He coached and helped to mold, not only his two sons, but many other Fairport community boys in both baseball and football.  Jerry enjoyed watching his grandchildren in athletics and other various activities and always  supported all  of their efforts.  Jerry enjoyed watching his beloved Buffalo Bills, Sabres, and New York Yankees.  His passion for sports was passed onto his boys and often fostered by disguising trips to Major league Ball Parks as family Vacations.

Most importantly, Jerry was a tremendous family man and his love for his family was insurmountable. You could always catch him smiling and always knew he was happy when you heard his whistling.

A private memorial service will take place on Tuesday, March 16that 1:00 White Haven Cemetery in Pittsford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601

John and I are so sorry to learn of Gerry’s passing. He was the most generous man with his smiles and hugs and so good to my husband’s parents, Sam and Kay Sozio.
We would like to send Lucille a card. Could you privately send us her information. Thank you. John and Monica Sozio

Gerry G was a great man. I met him in the 70’s when he worked security at the War Memorial and I worked in food service. We hit it off and were friends from the start. Later in life he was working security at Kodak and we ended up seeing each other all the time there. My condolences to Louise, Peter and Tony, very sorry for your, and our loss.

He was a great man… let alone grandfather. Very selfless guy always cracking jokes to make the kids laugh. I know he would do anything for us and I can say that we are blessed to have been able to have spent all our lives with him. He was a hard worker and family man. I hope that some of his qualities have worn off on me. We will never forget him and he will always have a special place in our hearts. One day I hope to have a beautiful family like ours and be able to care for my kids/grandkids like he did with us.May one day we meet again but I know he will always be watching over us and he is in a better place now. Rest In Peace Papa you will not be forgotten.

When I was the C.O. of the Licensing Squad, You were my right hand man. No one ever left the office with a question you couldn’t answer. You were always respectful, articulate and trustworthy. I was proud to have served on the RPD with you.

Pleasant and humorous, easy to talk with., I always left feeling better about my day and life here in Fairport following my visits with Jerry . Joanne and will always have the image of Jerry and Louise working hard on their yard and garden. I already have missed seeing him out in the yard. Thanks for the guaranteed smiles.
