Marge was a beautiful person, inside and out, who lived her life passionately. She was born September 4, 1925, in Rochester, New York, the daughter of Carl and Margaret Colopietro.  Marjorie had a special and loving relationship with her three brothers, Johnnie, Mike, and Babe. Marge proudly graduated from Nazareth Academy High School and entered the work force as a secretary. After raising her six children, she re-entered the work force working for the State of New York.

Her Uncle, Tony, introduced her to her future husband, Henry, a gifted artist. Henry and Tony served in the army together in World War II. Henry served in combat overseas and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Marge and Henry married after the war ended in October of 1945. With family as their center, she was grounded in the experience, the knowledge, and the reality of unconditional love.

Marge was the matriarch of the family, a gentle lady whose kindness was embraced by all whom she met. Her ability to connect on a personal level with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unique. She loved reading to them and in her later life , was an avid reader herself with a list of favorite authors.  She could “book club” with the best of them, finding television a little too boring for her taste. She never forgot a birthday and never went to a party without a home cooked dish. Her strength and positive outlook allowed her to live independently until she died at the age of 96. Now for all those who loved her, it’s time to share her story of goodness and grace.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 PM at Keenan Funeral Home in Fairport Village. Her Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM Friday at St. John of Rochester Church in Fairport. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to Holy Childhood; House of Mercy; Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund or a charitable organization of your choice.
