Gene Newman passed away on July 13, 2022 at the age of 80. Gene is predeceased by his wife Marie (LeBeau) Newman, daughter Paula Newman, mother Hazel (Holtz) Newman, father Helmuth (Red) Newman and step-mother Elizabeth (Bette) Newman. He is survived by his brother Dale Newman, daughters Tarra (Jim) Hartmann and Sandra Newman; grandsons Jimmy and Johnathan Hartmann, and granddogs Parker, Marley and Huey.
Gene was a loving and dedicated family man whose life revolved around his family. He was raised in Fairport and joined the United States Air Force as a military police officer after High School. Upon discharge, he returned to Fairport where he began working for Kodak and joined the Fairport Fire Department with his father Red, and brother Dale. Gene remained at Kodak until the early 1990’s, when he retired and began working for Fairport Central School District. In the late 2000’s Gene took a position with Cardinal Health where he remained until his retirement.
Gene’s life revolved around his family and his interests were many, including military aviation, NASCAR, sports, reading (military aviation, history and fire service), jazz music and attending every recital, concert and game for his daughters without fail.
A graveside service was held at the convenience of the family.

I am so sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. I worked with Gene at Brooks Hill School in Fairport several years ago. Gene always had a cheerful smile and kind word for everyone he saw. I loved hearing about the family – he was so proud of everyone. My thoughts are with all of you.
