On August 9, 2022, Dorothy Thompson, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother made her journey to the Lord.
We celebrate her 99 years of life on this earth.
Dorothy was born in Evansville, Indiana on April 3, 1923 (to the late Raymond & Lavina Titzer) where she spent her childhood enjoying life on the farm with her four siblings (Bettilou, Dan, Sue & Ed).
She met her husband and best friend, Robert, a fellow High School classmate and it was instant love for both. It wasn’t long before the eloped to Kentucky and were married. They had four children (David, Carol, Janis & Paul) and their loving union lasted for over 50 years. Dorothy and Bob had a love for each other that could only be written about in fairy tales. They were meant to be together for eternity.
Dorothy & Bob’s adventures included living in Michigan, Ontario Canada, Florida, and Texas…before finally settling in California where Dorothy’s amazing fashion sense brought her success as a buyer for many high-end women’s clothing shoppes.
Later, Dorothy became a Realtor and was proud to help many young people with important life decisions. It was here she also found her love of antiques and was known for finding incredible bargains and sharing the antiques with her family.
In her 90’s, Dorothy began volunteering her time to the Stephen Ministry at St. John of Rochester, the Bereavement Committee and even passing out Holy Cards to everyone she met. She was a selfless, loving woman.
But, most important to Dorothy, was time spent doting on her four children, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren with an abundance of love and nurturing. She never missed an opportunity for big hugs, visits, sleep overs, phone calls, cooking, caring, sharing, loving and, of course, she always brought the good fairy with her to leave gifts behind.
Her love and devotion to her family is her lifelong legacy. We miss you and love you dear, sweet Dorothy Rae.
Dorothy is survived by her four children & their spouses: David & Liz Thompson, Carol (Thompson) & Bruce Koeppen, Janis (Thompson) & John Reding, Paul & Mary Thompson, her grandchildren Kevin, Kenny & Keith Thompson, Jeannie, Kelly, Aaron, Kyle Koeppen, Stacey, Johnny, & Katie Reding and Maureen, Hilary, Lauren & Stephanie Thompson AND her 22 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert and her brother Ed Titzer.
Dorothy’s Funeral Mass will be held on: Monday, August 22, 2022 at 12:00 Noon St. John of Rochester Catholic Church 8 Wickford Way Fairport, NY
