Winter, Carolyn “Sue”

Carolyn “Sue” Winter was born on January 28, 1941 in Kansas to Phyllis and Howard Bixler. She was the eldest of three daughters. She and her family moved to Culver City, California when she was fairly young where she and her sisters grew up and went to school. She graduated from Culver City High School in 1958 at the age of 17. During her brief time in college while participating in musicals and live theater, she met her soulmate and future husband, Francis B. Winter, Jr. The two of them got married in California in 1963 and were married until Francis passed away in 2005. They were the parents of one son who was born in 1968.

In 1973, they moved to Fairport, New York where they bought their first and forever home. Sue and Francis raised their son in the Fairport School District and became prominent members in their neighborhood as well as the household where all of the kids would come to play and eat snacks. Sue had three grandchildren born in 1998, 1999, and 2001 that became her pride and joy. She spent many years helping to raise them into bright young individuals and supported them through their sport, theater, and playfully creative years of school in Fairport.

Sue was a caring person who always tried to help out the people she loved. She made lots of friends at the shoppe that she worked at and ran for the last few years of her life. She loved to sew, crochet, and create different little crafts that she would display and sell at her shoppe. She also loved to sing and dance to her favorite musical soundtracks (The King and I) and her favorite singers and artists (The Carpenters); any chance she could, she would turn a sentence into a song lyric that it reminded her of. Overall, she was a vibrant and lovely lady who could brighten anyone’s day with her smile and laugh, and her goofy jokes.

After battling thyroid and lymphatic cancer for a few years, she passed away on September 23, 2022 at the ripe age of 81. She will be remembered, cherished, and missed forever by her surviving friends and family.
