Marie was born October 8, 1931 in Wayne, PA, the daughter of Rinaldo and Julia Anastasia DiValerio. Mom had one sister, Evelyn Cassella.)
Mom met Dad, the love of her life, while working as a secretary at Villanova University where he was a student. Their wedding was held at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church on the university’s campus.
Marie and Jeff started their family in Pennsylvania and moved to Maryland for a few years while the family was young. Marie was a typical suburban Mom back in the day. Her children were her priority and she was active and social with the neighbors. The family thrived under the loving and attentive environment she created.
Jeff’s job brought the family to Fairport, NY in 1969. It wasn’t the easiest move for the family. We moved into our new home in January during a blizzard! We rarely had snow in Maryland. Our new neighbors greeted us with open arms, along with snow shovels, warm food and drinks. Marie was again busy supporting her children and family activities, sports, and other interests. She also made time for her own interests. Marie worked at Sibley’s department store and the Town and Country Dinner Theater in East Rochester, NY. Marie loved Fairport.
After many years in Fairport, Marie and Jeff moved to Connecticut for a few years, then resided in Atlanta, Georgia for many years before returning to Fairport in 2012. Marie’s personal talents and interests included knitting, bowling, reading, cooking and playing the piano. Mom was always knitting either by herself or with her monthly knitting group in Atlanta. Bowling was her second favorite activity again with her Atlanta team of girlfriends.
Marie has been blessed with six beautiful grandchildren: Emily, Lindsay, Andrea, Courtney, Geoffrey and Gerard IV. Great Grandmother to 8 cherished great grandchildren: Evelyn, Clark, Gerard V, Zachary, John, Harper, Charlotte, and Ford. Mom loved her family dearly and spent specials moments with each and everyone of us. We are thankful that God has reunited her with the love of her life, Dad.
