Don passed away Saturday morning, February 11, 2023, at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Dorothy and wife Nancy. Survived by wife Joanne Case Green, son David (Mary Anne), grandchildren Kaile (KJ) Jones, Cortney, Devan and Gavin.
Don grew up in Brighton, graduated from Brighton High School where he excelled in track and soccer. He received college degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Arts and Education from RIT and SUNY Oswego. Before pursuing his passion for teaching, Don was called to active duty with the US Navy where he was stationed in San Francisco and Honolulu as a Communication Watch Officer. Upon completion of his active duty Don returned to the Rochester area where he began his teaching career in the West Irondequoit CSD. Along with his teaching responsibilities Don also coached the golf team which won numerous County Titles under his guidance.
Don loved to spend time in Maine with Nancy and David while hitting the golf courses as often as he could. He recorded his only Hole in One on the 17th hole of the York Country Club, York Maine. Don became quite an accomplished painter later in his years and had received numerous ribbons for his paintings. He was an active member of the Webster Art group which he was quite proud of.

I am thankful for the opportunity to have met and taken care of Don for over the past three years .. I know he will be sadly missed but we can all take comfort in cherishing all the fond memories of him.. He had accomplished a lot and was a Great Guy with multiple talents!… Thankfull fto his military service…. Go rest in peace now … Amen
I had Mr. Green for shop class in 64-68. Great teacher and a good man.

Mr. Green was my Mechanical Drawing and Introduction to engineering teacher in the late 50s. His class inspired me to gain my Mechanical Engineering degree
I really enjoyed Mr Green’s industrial arts classes and he was my golf coach as well. Very nice man. Ron 75’
Dave, sorry for your loss. Your father always remembered me. I was so happy to see him at one of the Rochester LPGA pro ams. He was a great teacher, mentor, and person. He will be missed by many.

Don Green: I graduated from IHS in ’65, He was a very likable person, Fair Winds fellow Veteran.
Mr. Green was my Industrial Arts teacher at IHS. He was well respected by his students, fellow teachers and his school staff friends. He was a kind considerate man. I remember most of all is how he saved me from a serious injury when I was improperly operating a radial arm saw during shop class. His quick thinking and immediate action is the reason I still have two arms. Thank you Mr. Green. Good luck on your journey.

I knew Don in 1960 as I was a Student teacher at West Irondequoit High with His teaching Mate In Industrial Arts. Don was a very good teacher and person.. Got to know him even more as I taught in the Gates School district and would see him at meetings. Always a nice guy. RIP Don.
I too was a student of Don’s at IHS ’65-’69. He was a great teacher. Loved those shop classes. He influenced my career path as I went on to Oswego and even had Steve Howard as one of my master teachers, a student teacher of Don’s. Now retired after 33 years from Fairport CSD as an IA/Technology teacher. I would “run into him” in Webster and he still remembered those days. It was a pleasure to chat with him. Don ran the district adult education program held at the high school. I was fortunate to be able to work for Don for several years until I graduated in 1980 by helping him process registrations for the programs. I met his then wife Nancy several times. They were both such brilliant, supportive, and friendly people. Don was the golf coach when my sister played on the team. We both have such tremendously fond memories of Don. He will be missed.
