Thompson, Velma “Val”
Val passed away peacefully with her children at her side on April 1, 2023 at the age of 92 at The Living Center in Pittsford. She was two weeks shy of her 93rd birthday. Val is predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Les Thompson, and her daughter, Wendi Thompson.
Val is survived by her children, Skip (Tammy) Thompson, Sheri Thompson (Allen Barrett), Kim Skwieralski, Tammy (Todd) Schaeffer, Kevin (Thea) Thompson, and Penny (Chris) Tomeno, 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Together with her husband they created Suburban Lawn Service in Fairport, NY. Val handled the customer service and billing all while raising seven children. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, music and was an avid reader.
The Thompson Family would like to thank the staff at the Living Center for all the attention and special care Val received, especially in the last week of her life.
Friends and family may call on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4pm – 6pm at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450.
Funeral mass will be held Tuesday April 11th at 10am at St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY 14450.
Donations in Val’s name may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.

We loved our dear neighbor Val for her friendliness, exuberance, and positivity, and are so sad to learn of her passing.
The Thompson house will always be the Thompson House … many memories. It is comforting to know that she is now with Mr. Thompson again.
Mary Lou and I miss your mom so much. She was the best roommate for mom at HLC – sweet lady with a sweet family.. Thank you for everything you did for my mom and thank you for continuing to visit her…
