Margaret F. “Peg” Muthig, 88, of Fairport, NY passed away peacefully at the Friendly Home on Saturday March 9, 2024. Peg was born in Utica, NY on January 22, 1936. Peg was predeceased by her husband, John J. “Jack” Muthig; her parents, James Francis and Margaret M. Feeney; sisters Anne (Frank) Demo and Sally (Bill) Muthig; brother Jim Feeney; son Michael Muthig; daughters Megan Muthig and Susan Muthig-Berg-Holzmacher, son-in-law Fred Marconi Jr. and so many close family friends.
Peg went back to college as an adult-learner and earned an A.A.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene from MCC. She worked as a “Gentle Hydentist” for many years in the Rochester area. After retiring from dental hygiene, Peg became the proud owner of her own business, Flowers of the Field. She loved to share her craft projects and ideas. Peg shared with EVERYONE. She loved to give! Retirement also allowed her the time to be a wonderful Grandma to the treasures of her life, her grandchildren.
Peg and Jack were two of the “original settlers” of Nettlecreek Road, having built the home where they raised their children and welcomed friends and neighbors to sit and chat, or share a meal. Peg will be missed by special Nettlecreek Road neighbors, Sue Clifford-Alvut and Judy and Norm Karsten.
Peg is survived by her son Mark Muthig (Paula); her daughter Christine Marconi; son-in-law Don Holzmacher; grandchildren Erin, Elisa and Daniel Muthig, Will, Frank and Jake Marconi, Jackson and Kyle Berg, Katie and Donny Holzmacher; great-granddaughters Sophia and Julia Marconi and nieces Debbie, Donna and Diane Demo, Linda and Karen Muthig and nephew Jim Muthig.

Mom Muthig, you were so very kind to me, especially when I lost my own mom so many years ago. You were so generous, helping with my wedding and simply being a good listener. I am so blessed to have been a small part of your life. May you rest as you reunite with so many loved ones. Tricia
My family was so lucky to move into the Nettlecreek neighborhood and become your neighbor. Peg was always so much fun, so nurturing, and always put up with our antics. I’m sure “Pegsy and Mahty” are having a laugh with family and friends while smiling down on all of us. Love and hugs to the whole Muthig family.
Fly with the Angels dear Peg…
Mrs Muthig was the epitome of a gentle woman. I considered the Muthig home on Nettlecreek my second home in my teen years. The Muthig’s humble display of recurring generosity, hospitality and kindness to me and to others has remained with me throughout my life. Susan had strong morals and an easy going, loving personality- no doubt learned from her parents. I am so happy and blessed to have been on the receiving end of her friendship and love. I am consoled knowing mother, father and daughter are reunited once again. My love and sincerest sympathy to Mark, Paula, Chris and their children.
Some of our most special moments were with Jack & Peg And their children. She always welcomed us with open arms and her home was always so welcoming with a smile
Our family feels blessed and thankful she was a part of our life. Our thoughts & prayers are with you
The world just lost an earthly Angel and Heaven just got even better!
Peg was a dear friend and a real role model for all of us. In my life, no
one can surpass Meg Muthig! She was a Blessing to All!
Peg was everyone’s mom in the neighborhood. And what a wonderful neighborhood it was to grow up in! Chris and Mark, keep your parent’s smiles on your faces and their love in your hearts! Peg was a true gem!
Peg was a lovely woman who showed us love and kindness. We miss her sweet countenance. We loved Peg and Jack and know they are happy together and at peace. We are the fortunate ones to have known them.
