Butler, George Steven

Steve was born in Jamestown, N.Y. He spent his formative years there where he received his Bachelor’s in Art History and Psychology at Fredonia State College. He later moved to Rochester, NY where in spent over 40 years in banking.

Steve enjoyed every day that he spent as a branch manager. His customer service was always top notch. Nothing brought him more joy than developing his co- workers. Work was more than where you go each day, it was a part of his family.

Steve’s hobby was collecting antiques, art and old jewelry. In his free time, he loved to go to flea markets and second-hand stores and he loved to arrive at garage sales hours before they opened. He would find countless treasures and shower all those around him with them.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth(Mee) Butler, his brother David(Vicky) Butler and 9 nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday, August 3rd at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd , Fairport, NY at 11:00. Visitation will follow until 2:00

I am so saddened by this! Steve and I go way back. We first worked together at Charter One Bank where he was brought in as the manager there. I was intrigued by his energy, kindness and helping nature with all of our co-workers and with customers of the bank.

Years later were were reunited at Xerox Federal Union where he was a Financial Services Representative. We went through the merge of a new brand identity as Xceed Financial Credit Union. We had a blast in California on a business trip together with our co-workers. Then he helped me as a member at Kinecta Federal Credit Union.

We had so many laughs together. We were diet coke sharing buddies. I’ll never forget his laugh, big warm smile, dancing (lol) and big warm hugs. RIP my dear friend. You will be missed!

I met Steve through my mother. Steve worked with her at, I believe, Rochester Community. He and mom, also an antique dealer, loved to share their treasures and stories. We always felt like he was one of the family! You can now share your stories with mom again! RIP dear Steve! Ron and Diane Trawitz

George and Bette were very close friends of my parents, and so, Steve and Dave were a big part of my growing up years. I have so many pictures…one favorite is Steve turning his eyelids inside out to make us all laugh the ice cream right out of our mouths at our kitchen table. (This is hilarious when your about 5 yrs old…😊) Our dads were in many bands together singing old Swede songs whenever they were together and harmonizing like they were brothers. Peace to you my friend, and peace to your whole family.
