Cathy I. Anderson

Cathy passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on September 18 after a short illness. She was surrounded by her husband and children.  She is survived by her husband Robert, children Scott(Claire) and Sharon (Ryan), and grandchildren Phoebe, Forrest, Freya, Breanna and Taylor, her mother Irma and sister Brenda.

Cathy was born at Oak Ridge, TN and graduated from high school there.   She attended Middle Tennessee State University at Murfreesboro, TN with a two year degree in Business Administration. Growing up in Eastern Tennessee was always an especially happy memory for Cathy.  She was particularly fond of the beauty of the Great Smokey Mountains and all of the amazing natural wonders there.

Cathy and Bob were married at Penndel, PA in 1969 in a small Lutheran church that had family history. Their son, Scott, was born in 1971 and daughter Sharon in 1975 while they lived outside of Philadelphia. Cathy enjoyed the adventure and challenges of life, raising a family, and was always a bright presence for all around her. Cathy and Bob moved to Fairport, NY in 1976 where Cathy worked for the Fairport School District, The Fairport Public Library and then with Marsh & McClennan insurance brokerage until she retired. During retirement years Cathy and Bob enjoyed travel, nature, andspending time with their grandchildren. Her many hobbies included music (playing piano, the Mountain Dulcimer andbeing a member of the church Bell Choir), crocheting, gardening, bird watching, her beloved Black Labs (Emma and Izzy), book clubs, Church activities, cooking, and girls trips. Being with friends and family was always most important for her.  Cathy and Bob recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary and were looking forward to many more years to come.

Cathy was a truly bright light to all she touched and she has left us with many wonderful memories which will be cherished forever.

Special thanks and much love to Cathy’s Bethlehem Lutheran Church family and to all her friends for all the love, support and friendship you gave to her for all these years. She loved you all.

    Bob, Scott, Sharon and family,
These pictures of Cathy are beautiful and capture the essence of you and your family. Cathy was truly talented in so many ways and all of her friends loved her humor, passion, generosity, and the love she had for her good music, books, movies and, of course, her beloved Smoky Mountains.
There is a hole in our hearts now, but we’ll be forever grateful for the 45 years of friendship and precious memories.
Love and peace to all of you, We’re here, Bob. 💕

I only met Cathy the once when both she and Bob came over to England for Scott and Claire’s wedding back in 2003. Since then we became Facebook friends and that’s when I got to see who Cathy was. What a lovely happy and beautiful soul she was… her love for all things nature, her beloved Izzy, her children, grandchildren, her love of the church, the Smokey mountains … her soulmate Bob and of course her love of the exclamation mark!!!!!! I’ll miss her chats on Facebook. She really was a beautiful light. I’m so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you all with much love, Nicky, Stuart, Melissa, Sarah and Gracie 🐾 xxx (UK family)
