Patricia DeSouza was born on December 17, 1946, in Fairport, New York. She dedicated her life to serving others, demonstrating boundless compassion and an open heart. As the second oldest of five sisters, she grew up in a loving home filled with laughter and a strong sisterly bond. Patricia cherished her role as a sister and nurtured an unbreakable connection with her beloved siblings. She was particularly inspirational in her academic pursuits, showcasing her true brilliance. Her deep commitment to helping others led her to proudly serve in the Peace Corps, where she made a meaningful impact in communities far from home. Her time in Brazil inspired a lifelong dedication to assisting those in need and fostered countless friendships around the globe, including her meeting and marrying her cherished husband, Helico (Tony) DeSouza.
Her family was her greatest joy. As a mother, she raised two soccer-loving boys, cheering on Fairport, University of Rochester and Nazareth Soccer, from the sidelines with pride and joy, all while nurturing her boys with love and guidance. Later, as a grandmother, she enveloped her grandchildren in the same warmth, sharing stories, hugs, and the quiet wisdom that made every moment with her feel like a treasured gift. Her kitchen was always open, her arms always welcoming, and her laughter a warm, steady presence in our lives.
We remember her for her dedication to spreading kindness, her unwavering faith, quiet determination, and her remarkable ability to make each person feel seen and valued. Her legacy of love and service will live on through those who were blessed to know her.
She is predeceased by her husband Helcio (Tony) DeSouza, parents Joseph and Anna Jean (Caracci) and Sister Joanne (Caracci) King. Survived by her sons Charlie (Amy) DeSouza, Andrew (Katie) DeSouza; grandchildren Grace, Hannah Joyce, Abigail DeSouza and Lucca DeSouza, Addison Mary; Sisters Celeste (Gordon) Curley, Peggy (Bill) Birx , Christine (Curt) Dehm, many well loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, who will carry her memory forward with love. In honor of her spirit, the family asks that contributions be made to a charity of choice, so her legacy of caring and giving may continue to touch lives as she did so gracefully.
She will be missed deeply, loved eternally, and remembered always. Once a Fairport Red Raider, always a Raider. May she rest in peace.
