Wayne Charles Strauss 

1957 – 2024

Wayne was born in Rochester, New York on November 28, 1957 to  Charles A. “Chuck” Strauss and Mildred “Millie” Mall Strauss. He  graduated from Greece Arcadia High School in 1975. As a Boy Scout, he  achieved the ultimate rank of “Eagle Scout”. Wayne attended Syracuse  University, graduating with a law degree and was admitted to the NYS Bar.  He was married briefly and purchased a home on Summit Street in the  Village of Fairport where he lived for many years until his untimely death  last month. 

For over 21 years, Wayne was employed by Oppenheimer Funds in  Rochester retiring from the position of Vice President in 2018. 

Wayne enjoyed teaching young people about finance and investing and  held the position of Adjunct Professor at St. John Fisher College. 

He served on the Board of Directors of the Rochester Area Mensa group  and was a member of Toastmasters International. 

Wayne spent many childhood weekends enjoying his family’s vacation  home on Wellesley Island near Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands.  Wayne had a lifelong love of that region and wrote several articles for the  online magazine Thousand Islands Life in recent years. 

He was also a supporter of the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay and wrote  articles for their website. 

Wayne frequently enjoyed the company of his many friends at Fairport  Brewing Company where his bubbly upbeat personality will be greatly  missed.

  1. As the editor of http://www.thousandislandslife.com, I will miss this gentleman. shared a dozen articles for our online magazine and helped promote the River Hospital as well as other river issues. He will be missed.
