Denysenko, Zachary (Zach) Nicholas

Zachary (Zach) Nicholas Denysenko, age 27 of Victor, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday January 26, 2025. He was the beloved son of Jennifer and Gregory Denysenko.

Zach is survived and missed by his loving fiance, Katherine (Kat) Hollien, and beautiful daughter, Lenora (Lenny) May Hollien. Zach was the cherished grandson of Joyce and John May and Jaroslava and Victor Denysenko. Zach was the sibling of Isabella (Michael) Clark, Natalia and Nathaniel Denysenko and beloved uncle of Joseph and Scarlett Clark. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who loved him dearly. Among them are Julie and Kevin Saunders, Jaime and Mark Palamone, Lori and Joseph May, Christina and James Allen, and Sonya Denysenko, along with a host of cousins who adored him.

Zach had the most beautiful blue eyes, a smile and laugh that lit up the room, and a genuine love for his family and music. He was intelligent, witty, kind and generous to loved ones and strangers.

Zachary grew up in Irondequoit, NY where he attended Irondequoit High School and graduated in 2015. Throughout his life, Zach consistently enjoyed creating music. He was a talented violinist starting at age 3. He later self-taught himself guitar, which led him to participate in many bands and musical ventures. When Zach played the guitar, it came from his heart and soul, and that is when he felt most at peace.

Zachary’s free spirit led him to California, where he met the love of his life and they settled in San Diego. They enjoyed many beautiful adventures; hiking, camping and exploring. During these adventures, Zach made many soul connections. Every stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet.

His legacy will carry on through the life of his beautiful daughter, Lenora. Above all else, Zach was a proud and loving father. Lenora carries her father’s love for music, his contagious smile and genuine love for family and strangers alike. He will be missed forever and then some.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask to consider making a donation to support Zach’s daughter, Lenora. A custodial account where all funds will go directly towards her was created by Isabella Clark. Please contact her at isabelladenysenko@gmail.com for how to submit donations.

Zach was a good friend to me during our time at IHS and I am deeply saddened by his passing. We wrestled together, did track, took classes like AP Chemistry and English 10A, and had a lot of laughs. I am so sorry for your loss and no amount of platitudes will ever be enough. He was a good person who was loved by those around him. We had not spoke in many years after graduating IHS but I did speak with him in 2022 and was glad to hear he was doing well. The world is a dimmer place without him and his energy. May God bless you all.

I was Zachary’s violin teacher at the Hochstein Music School. I remember our lessons.
Zachary was a very talented violinist. We always had a lot of fun and he loved to play duets. So happy to read that he continued music after violin.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  3. Zach was my best friend and we shared a lot of awesome experiences together. Huntington on the beach, big bear/joshua tree camping, playing music together.. most of our times was just him trying to get me out of my shell and after a while I really started to enjoy getting out hiking and doing outdoorsy things on my own.

Zach was truly a special human and i haven’t stopped mourning this loss don’t know if i ever will.

One thing will remain a constant is burgers on Tuesdays for my brother.
Wild Goose & Wild Hog forever

There are no words to describe how difficult it was reading this obituary and that pales in comparison to how hard it must have been as a family to write it. Zach and I were neighbors from 4 years old through highschool. He was my childhood bestie from 4 years old to probably about 9. Though there isn’t much depth when you’re that young, those are such formative years and I have so many great memories building forts together outside, running through the woods by our houses, and playing at his house. He was so incredibly brilliant, very musically gifted, and very genuine. We didn’t talk much in high school but every time we did I was struck with how kind he was to me. I think we both had a soft spot for each other and that’s how I’ll always remember him. Love and prayers to the Denysenko family.

Zach was such a bright spirit, he could get anyone to start laughing within 30 seconds of meeting them.
I met Zach in 2021 during a difficult time in both our lives. However, even in those long excruciating hours of our new lives, he would somehow get us all to smile and laugh.
Music was like a second language for him, i remember at the lodges one day he just showed up with a violin and was shredding some amazing tunes. Then three days later he was mastering the guitar. We could sit for hours after IOP and just listening to great classic rock, grunge, and other music.
We had several long conversations during this time, that I have to say, are one of the reasons why I am alive today. He helped open my eyes to a different way of living, one of joy and happiness.
He was younger than me but he was able to instill knowledge and life lessons akin to Plato or Nietzsche. A man gifted with understanding far beyond his age.
I will always look up to Zach and how he viewed the world, if we had more people like him this world would be a better place.
Zach made an impact on more peoples lives than is possible to quantify. A tsunami, rocking the boat, in this giant ocean we call life.

My condolences to the Denysenko family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Zach <3

It was a pleasure to have know Zachary. We met on Cranbrooke Dr. He and my Zachary(LaMendola) hung out and also carpooled to religion at CTK. He was the most polite “kid” I ever met insisting he call me Mrs. LaMendola instead of Amy. My heart goes out to his mother Jennifer and grandparents who were great neighbors. My condolences to dad and rest of family. You are in my thoughts and prayers ❤️ he left a positive impression on all of us ❤️

I was so saddened to read about Zach’s passing. I was his fifth grade science teacher for four months and enjoyed having him in class. He really had an infectious smile. I didn’t see his obituary until today or I would have been at his funeral.
My sympathy goes out to his whole family, so heartbreaking.
