Playfair, Karen Garey

Fairport: Karen Garey Playfair was born in Red Bank, New Jersey on June 15, 1943. She entered Heaven’s Gates July 14, 2017.

Karen graduated with a bachelor degree in nursing from Adelphi University, and worked for Strong Memorial Hospital for 35 years. She received many accolades during her career  including the University of Rochester Medical Center School of Nursing and Strong Memorial Hospital Annual Outstanding Nursing Award in 1985. She was an avid collector of antiques, traveling frequently with her husband to find that perfect addition. Karen also had a gift for style and decorating,  creating unique curtain arrangements for all 4 of her sons.

She is survived by James Playfair, her loving husband of 45 years; Son’s David (Christine) Daniel (Kim), Jamie (Jamie) and Matthew (Perrin); and grandchildren Corinne, Marissa, Annika, Mitchell, Chase, Leah, and Riley.

The family will receive friends on Monday July 24th, from 4pm – 7pm with Services following immediately at Keenan’s Funeral Home on Rt. 31 in Fairport. The internment will take place the following day at Graceland Memorial Cemetery in New Jersey. “Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories.”
