Czekanski, David Edward

Dr. David Edward Czekanski, passed away on May 25, 2018, at the age of 86 years.

 

 

Predeceased by wife of 26 years, Marie Greco Czekanski. Survived by wife Ann Cook Czekanski 28 years; children Eric (Sheryl) Czekanski and Laura (David) White; 5 Grandchildren, Shana, Bryce, Garrett, Kennedy, Noah; many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends and colleagues. Predeceased by parents Felix and Monica Czekanski and siblings Isabel Roesler, Esther Smith, and Jimmy Luczkowiak.

 

A native of Dunkirk, New York, Dave graduated with a teaching Degree and Masters Degree from the State University of New York at Brockport and obtained his Doctorate in Human Behavior from the United States International University.

 

David, a dedicated educator, spent his teaching career with the East Irondequoit Central School District, from which he retired in 1989. During his career at East Irondequoit Central School District he was a Teacher, Science department head, and Principal, at Ridgewood, Norwood Middle School and Eastridge High School.  He is fondly remembered by generations of East Irondequoit students whom he educated. Dave also was on the board of the Irondequoit Federal Credit Union and active in the Science Teachers Association.

 

David served for 2 years in the United States Army with an honorable discharge in 1956. David and wife Marie raised their children in Henrietta NY and David lived there for over 50 years in the same residence. David was an avid bowler, loved fishing, clowned around for charity, and was an accomplished high school Football player and Track and Field athlete at Dunkirk high school. David’s children’s friends considered him like a second father and coined the phrase “DadDad aint so bad” and to this day call him DadDad. David was always available when friends of Eric were involved in “shenanigans” and needed assistance.

 

Calling hours will be held Thursday 4-7 PM at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location), 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road where a service will be held immediately to follow. In lieu of Flowers, please consider donating to Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial Hospital or American Cancer Society. In David’s honor please always remember the youth of America is our future and nurture them with wisdom, kindness, and respect.
