William “Bill” E. McMahon, 87, passed away courageously at home on August 24, 2018 while being held and surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by first wife Joyce Wyatt McMahon and sister Marilyn Maher, he is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 37 years, Rose Ann “Cricket” McMahon; daughter Kathleen, sons William Jr. (Barb) and Patrick; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren; Cherished sister in law Anita Yeropoli; Treasured Cousin, Robert Swallow. He is also survived by his many loving and devoted nephews and nieces; an endless amount of fun-loving friends and his faithful dog, Piper.
Born to James McMahon and Clarice Swallow on August 12th 1931 in Rochester, NY, Bill grew up valuing family, hard work, and making the most out of life every day.
Bill proudly served in the Navy from 1948-1952 in the Korean War aboard two different ships as a Radarman.
Greeting the day with a smiling face and an optimistic attitude, Bill looked at work as one of the greatest joys in life. As he put it, “if you like what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” Bill worked for Domine Builders Supply as a Salesman for 40 years. During his tenure Bill was the first salesman at Domine to ever achieve a million dollars in sales in a single year. He was a master at his craft and revered for his professionalism and commitment to meeting the needs of his customers.
While Bill was proud of his career accomplishments, being a husband and parent was paramount. His unwavering love for his “Posey” was unparalleled, and exemplified through his endless romantic gestures. He was present at all of his children’s sporting events, and identified the importance of integrity, honesty, hard work and commitment to every young person he met.
Bill had a very calming presence and had the unique foresight and wisdom to be diplomatic when listening or when asked for an opinion. He had a remarkable ability to find the silver lining in life.
Bill will be remembered as an incredibly kind, strong, and loving man, having an infectious laugh, a vice grip handshake, being generous to a fault, his slap stick sense of humor, being a gentleman, his witticisms and his perseverance.
Bill loved watching football games on Sundays, Bud Light, working on his 77’ Camaro, reading Tom Clancy novels, being a handy man, going to Las Vegas with his nephews and always offering a gesture of chivalry.
“There are very few men who’ve had the chance to live the life I’ve lived” said Bill, “and I’m grateful for every day and every person I’ve met along the way.”
The family is grateful to Dr. Jennifer Speranza and the many doctors, nurses and aides over the past ten years who gave Bill the imperative medical care to extend his life for many more beautiful years.
Calling hours will take place Thursday, August 30, 2018 4-7PM at The Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Fairport. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 31, 2018 11AM at St.John of Rochester Church (Fairport). Interment White Haven Memorial Park.

RIP Mr. McMahon, thanks for the memories.
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort in the scripture at Acts 24:15. This is what our God Jehovah promises for us all. And we can look forward to what is written in Psalm 37:9-11 and 29.
