Howk, Lucille K

Lucille was born February 24^th 1923 in Junius, New York. Her early life revolved around her parents’ farm growing up with her mother, father, two brothers and sister.  She had many happy memories from these days.

As a teenager, her family moved to Rochester where she attended East High School. After graduating, Lucille took a secretarial job at Kodak. During this time, she met Ronald, who was the love of her life. They were married and together, they raised two children, Linda and Richard, in Webster, New York.

Many fun-filled years were spent traveling and camping as a family.  She particularly enjoyed the times spent at the Thousand Islands. Lucille loved the outdoors, and after spending vacations camping, they found a cottage on Eagle Island in Sodus Bay. Lucille had many cherished memories spending time with her family and friends at the cottage.

Lucille worked in the Webster School lunch office and was a devoted member of the Webster Baptist church.

After retiring, Lucille and her husband moved to a farm in Alton, New York. There they raised cows, chickens, goats and two horses. Lucille had a large herb and vegetable garden and every Spring, Lucille and Ronald tapped the sugar maple trees on their property and made maple syrup which was enjoyed by her whole family.

After several years on their beloved farm, they relocated to Fairport where they lived in a beautiful home in the village by the Erie Canal. Here she spent time gardening and enjoying the community of Fairport.

Lucille was very independent, fun loving and active; traveling around in her car until the age of 95. She was always eager to meet new people and share her life stories. She enjoyed the friendship and caring she received from the Webster Baptist Church community and found so much fun with the “Golden Oldies”.

Lucille and her family are so grateful for the friends she made and the loving care provided by the staff at the Highlands where she had lived the past few months. She lived a long, productive, healthy life always helping others along the way. Lucille will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survived by children, Linda Stoddard and Richard (Nedda) Howk; grandchildren, Richard Jr. (Amy) Stoddard, Jennifer Stoddard, Chris (Mary) Howk, Andrew (Morgan) Howk; 3 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madelyn and Eleanor; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 14th, 11 AM at the Webster Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Church.
