Gorzell, Mary Frances

Mary passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and the compassionate and caring staff of Shepherd Home.
She is reunited with her husband, Fred J. Gorzell II and her son, Fred J. Gorzell III and survived by daughters Lynne (Thomas) Gorzell Sheehan, Andre (John) Gorzell Phillips, and Tracy Allen; granddaughters Andrea (Robert) Gorzell D’Haene, Cassandra Gorzell, Angela Gorzell Phillips, Kristina Fox, and grandson Brendan Allen.
Mary was born in Galveston, Texas to the late Charles and Anne Romano on December 15, 1931. She met her husband, Fred, at the age of 13. They became teenage sweethearts and remained inseparable until his passing in 2010. She attended Ursuline Academy, where she achieved the title of Valedictorian of her kindergarten class. The Ursuline sisters undoubtedly sparked her creative flair. She had an extraordinary talent for anthropomorphism, weaving remarkable sagas of the secret lives of the family pet menagerie—which live on to this day.
A funeral mass will take place at The Church of the Assumption in Fairport, New York on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11:15 am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Shepherd Home or Church of the Resurrection.

Mary was a sweet woman. While living in Stonebrook, whenever I went over to do maintenance work for her she always had kind words and a dry sense of humor. Mary’s baking was outstanding! Especially her croissants. She often spoke of being reunited with her late husband Fred, so I am very happy that she can finally be at peace.
