Fairport NY- Mary Lou (Hand) Podmenik passed away peacefully on December 13, 2019 at age 71 with loved ones by her side after a long battle with Dementia. She is predeceased by her loving husband Edward Podmenik, parents Robert and Mary (Skelly) Hand of Rochester, in-laws Henry and Lily (Adams) Podmenik of Clearfield, PA, many Aunts, Uncles and dear friend Cathy (Casaceli) DiSchino.
She is survived by her children Jennifer (Stephanie Crim) Podmenik of Victor and Mathew (Rebecca) Podmenik of San Diego, CA, grand-daughters Isabella, Lily, and Nora Podmenik, sister-in-law Sharon (Ashley) Podmenik Hilton of Akron OH, many cousins and close family friends.
Mary Lou graduated from Cardinal Mooney HS and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Nazareth College. She started her career teaching 2nd grade at Our Lady of Good Council and retired as a reading teacher at Jefferson Avenue Elementary School in Fairport. Mary Lou was an avid reader and loved all children.
