After graduating from RBI JoAnn began working at Taylor Instrumentsfor four years where she met Frank!  They were married on September 11, 1965 at St. Mary’s Church in Rochester NY.

Shortly after marring they moved to Fairport where they have lived now for over 52 years.  Upon moving to Fairport she became a member of St. John of Rochester Church joining in 1969.  In addition to church activities JoAnn became a teachers aide at the St. John of Rochester School where her son, Frank went.

JoAnn realized early her love of retail and the camaraderie and friendships that she could enjoy and build with her colleagues and the customers.  She began at Hershberg Jewelers and completed her 35-year career at Mann’s Jewelers.  Her peers and customers recognized JoAnn for her knowledge, salesmanship and kindness.

One of her passions was for animals and volunteering at the local animal shelters.  In 1993, she received “Volunteer of the Year” from Lollypop Farm. She walked dogs, helped in the surgical area and occasional stopped to pet one or two animals on the way. She loved all animals but had a special love for cats and dogs, seen especially with her own cat Kohana!

JoAnn loved her family and friends. As a wife, mother and grandmother, JoAnn provided a loving and caring family life, always there when help and guidance and a smile were needed!  She enjoyed time with her granddaughter Elena, drawing, playing games and giggling.  Morning chats with her husband and an occasional cup of coffee or two at Panerawith her husband, son and daughter.  And frequent getaways with her husband to Hilton Head Island. JoAnn maintained a close relationship with friends from high school.  Meeting yearly for a girl’s weekend out.

JoAnn had a wonderful ability to make people laugh, build life long relationships and create a comfortable and fun environment that you wanted to be a part of.  Which was reflected in her relationship with her family, friends, work and the love of animals.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in memory of JoAnn on Tuesday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m., St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, NY 14450 with Fr. Bradshaw presiding.

My sincere condolences to Frank and family. The last time that I saw JoAnn was in September 2016 when she was at the Celebration of Life for my son Jeff. Even not seeing her for quite some time we were able to talk and enjoy each other’s company. I haven’t seen Frank in years, but still remember the Hudson auto that he drove. Yes, JoAnn was very friendly and like-able. Sadly she will be missed. May she rest in peace.

Joanne was a wonderful person and mentor. I had the privilege of working with her at my fist job at Hershberg Jewelers at 16 where she took me under her wing. We connected though the years at both Scheers and Mann’s Jewelers and her brightness and humour followed her and brought everyone togethet!

Love and prayers Frank, Frankie, Elena , Laura and family. We will miss JoAnn’s sweet smile and infectious laugh. A more positive person I have never met. She loved life and our reunions, especially our time at the lake and collecting all those lake stones. Life will not be the same without her.

      Helen & Fred,

As always, you have kind words to say. JoAnn will miss her school friends (GiGi ) girls. At your night outs, she always worried about being comfortable but when returned home, she had a big smile on her face.

      Thanks for your thoughtfulness
