Mary Jo Anderson passed away peacefully after a brave fight with cancer on June 28, 2020.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband of 22 years Todd and her loving dog Bailey. Survived also by her Brothers James (Mary Jane) Schenkel, William Schenkel, David (Paula) Schenkel and sister Debby (John) Adams. Sisters-in-law Debbie Schenkel, Susan Anderson (David Ortman), Brothers-in-law Paul Anderson and Peter Anderson. Many nieces, nephews, friends. She is predeceased by her parents Bernard and Patricia Schenkel and Brother Fred Schenkel.
Mary Jo was born and raised in the Rochester area. She worked for Eastman Kodak for more than 25 years and then for Carestream Health for more than 12 years in their purchasing departments. At age 45 she went back to school attending St. John Fisher College at night and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Finance. She was so proud of that achievement. She retired in 2019 as a World Wide Commodity Manger.
Mary Jo was an avid downhill skier for many years. She traveled the world to ski and taught skiing to beginners at Bristol Mountain. Later she loved to cross country ski and snow shoe.
Her family’s cottage on Canandaigua Lake was the gathering place for family and friends. She loved boating, skiing and bonfires on the beach. But she will tell you the water is cold in May when it was time to put the docks in.
Mary Jo loved her dogs, Flash, Diamond and Bailey. Each with a different personality and temperament. They were her pride and joy. At any given time you would find her on floor wrestling, playing tug-of-war or ball. But most of all she loved their long walks through the woods, especially after work. It was her therapy after a long day.
Her friends will tell you Mary Jo was always one to tell it like it is. Her honesty and straightforwardness created a special bond with her friends and family. They could count on her to be there for them and knew they were there for her. Family and friends were so important to Mary Jo. She delighted in being together with people.
And oh how she loved to laugh. She will be terribly missed.

I’m terribly saddened by this news. Our deepest condolences are with Todd, and Mary’s family during this difficult time. Mary was our neighbor for more than 15 years and she will be remembered and missed.
It has been a short time since I remember meeting Mary Jo. Time passes so quickly. I always remember her doing the gardening and lawn etc. She was so physical. Something I always admired about her. She always seemed so invincible. Todd I am so sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear about this. Years ago she invited my children and me to go waterskiing at the cottage on Lake Canandaigua. We had a great time as she was trying to teach me how to waterski. At one point she made me practice getting on the skis from a sitting position on the dock. I was not ready when she took off with the boat. Of course I did a faceplant into the lake and was dragged under for some distance. When I finally emerged I saw Mary Jo and my two boys laughing hysterically. That’s how I remember her. Always laughing and ready for a little bit of fun.
I remember working with Mary Jo at Kodak. We loved to talk about our ski trips and laugh about our life escapades. She will be missed.
Todd. So sorry for your loss. Maryjo was a very special person. I remember when we were at Kodak and sat back to back. She made me laugh a lot. She will be missed.
Todd, I am very sorry for the loss of Mary Jo. I enjoyed working with Mary Jo for many years at Kodak & Carestream Health. I greatly appreciated Mary Jo’s honesty and tough negotiating style. I was glad that she took the opportunity to retire last year and I hope that she enjoyed her retirement time. Sincerely & with deep regrets.
My deepest condolences to Todd and the entire Mary Jo’s family, my heart is in a deep sorrow and in disbelieve that she left us so too soon . I was lucky enough to know and interact with Mary Jo during her years at Kodak. Privately, she was such a dear person and friend, and such a hard worker on the business side. Rest in peace my friend!!!
Todd, So sorry to hear of MJ’s passing. MJ was a special person to me always looking out after me and lending a hand (or wheels) whenever I needed her, I think you guys beeped driving by as I was shoveling the driveway on English!, lol. I hope she got to enjoy your new pool and house for as long as she could, take care of yourself!

I worked with Mary Jo at Kodak; she started shortly after I did. She had an infectious laugh and was always willing to reach out and help in any way she could. I am so sorry to hear of her passing and will keep her and her family in my prayers.
