I think about where I got my strength from it was her. She had a way of making me feel beautiful and special. Her joy of Sylvan Beach and her willingness to always take me warms my heart. I think of her a lot when I worked at Thompson Hospital I think she was right here working so hard as a nurse. Grandma you were so loved by so many and you left quite a legacy. The FHS class of ’77 sends its deepest condolences to our classmate, Bill, and all the Brien family, on the passing of his mother. Our hearts are with you all.
I was sorry to hear about Joan’s passing. I didn’t know her for long, but she had a sense of humor, and a deep desire to take care of people. I saw how that trait was passed along to her family. You took wonderful care of her. We will always be grateful that she was in our lives. May she rest peacefully!
To all my Al – Joan Brien cousins … I was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. I will always remember Joan’s ready smile and warm ways. I always admired her strength and her career ( not a lot of working women role models back in the day). I am June and Lou Figenscher’s oldest daughter Ann Marie. I carry fond memories of playing with my Brien cousins as a child. My heart is with you all in this sad time.
I saw your mother’s photo and immediately recognized her from the Genesee Hospital in the early ’70s when she worked in Orthopaedics. She was, and obviously remained, a really lovely woman. I remember Al coming to meet her every day. Such an enviable romance.
I was so sad to here of Joan
‘s passing. We were such good friends of your parents.Going to Mrytle Beach in the springtime is when we met them and continued going every year. That was where Bob and Lynn met and eventually married. Miss your parents and all the fun we had!
Joan was a kind and sweet person who spoke lovingly of her husband and children. I met her through my brother, Don, when they resided at Maplewood (Solstice) Senior Living, and it was a pleasure to get to know her. My condolences to you, her family, on her passing.
