VanReypen, Robert D.

Robert D. VanReypen of Walworth, NY, passed away on Sept. 25, 2020 at the age of 95.

He was predeceased by his wife Shirley, son Robert and brother Jack. He is survived by daughter Anne (Cliff) Cornelius, his son Alan (Bonnie) of Charlotte, NC and grandsons Jason, Seth and Kyle Cornelius, and Jennifer and Brittany Sale.

He graduated from Brighton High School in 1943.  He served as a LT in the Navy from 1943-1946.  He was a Cum Loude graduate of Dartmouth College in 1947 and from the University of Rochester Business School in 1949.  He entered the business world in 1950 at Kodak in Washington, then Bausch and Lomb in Philadelphia and Shuron in Rochester.  In 1964 he joined CH Stuart in Newark as General Manager of House of Stuart.  In 1966 joined Sarah Coventry International which started a sixteen year Executive VP career as a world traveler with management responsibilities for company owned operations in Australia, Belgium, Canada and the United Kingdom.  On many of his trips his wife would accompany him which provided opportunities for side trips to such places as St. Andrews, London, Isle of Jersey, Dublin, Paris, Frankfurt, Hawaii, Majorca and Bermuda.

In 1980 he formed VanReypen Enterprises LTD as an Executive LTD as an Executive Search firm retaining many International business contacts.  In 2003 he officially retired from active business affairs.

Over the years, Bob and Shirley belonged to four country clubs and traveled frequently on golfing trips to Pinehurst, Myrtle Beach and Virginia.  For 13 years they enjoyed an ocean front condo for 3 months in N. Myrtle Beach and played all their favorite golf courses.

He lived a full life with Shirley raising three children, traveling, golfing, gardening and antiquing.  Their love affair started in grammar school and flourished through 67 years of marriage.  Their commitment was destined to last throughout their lifetime.

A special note to his close friends, he cherished your friendship over the years and enjoyed his time with you over lunch dates and phone conversations.

There will be no service.  Burial will be private at a later date.
