Donald Arthur Stanton passed from this life into eternal life on July 11, 2020. Don was born on October 5, 1939 in Geneva, NY to the late George N. Stanton and Rita (Marsh) Stanton. Don was a loving husband to Cindy Campbell Stanton, who survives in Fairport, NY.
The family moved to Canandaigua and established their dairy farm, Stanswiss Farms, with three generations working together. Don attended Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) after graduation from Canandaigua Academy, earning his BS in Accounting. He joined the U.S. Army, serving in the reserves while working for Al Miller Co. in public accounting. He worked for Haskins and Sells before leaving public Accounting to work with Johnny Antonelli Tire Co. in various roles in accounting. He later returned to Public Accounting with Grymyn and Jaufmann until his retirement in 2012.
An active member in Fairport United Methodist Church since 1969, Don loved using his talents to share his knowledge and faith in service to God, including serving Treasurer for Grace Urban Ministries and Northwest Neighborhood Outreach Center for many years. He helped establish Perinton Congregations Habitat for Humanity and Treasurer for 20 years, helping build homes in partnership with Rochester’s Flower City Habitat for Humanity. In retirement Don became involved with AARP Tax preparation in Perinton, offering assistance with tax preparation to seniors.
Don enjoyed time with family, walked faithfully, liked number puzzles and loved bird watching. While he found traveling enjoyable and loved seeing and learning new things, Home was always best. A devoted husband father, grandfather and steadfast Christian, Don’s life is living example of benediction of “Well done, good and faithful servant …” Matt:25:21. In addition to his wife Cindy, Don leaves his son David (Stephanie) Stanton, daughter Karen (John) Cossaboon, brother George (Charlotte) Stanton, sister Nancy (Bob) Multer, as well as grandchildren Nicholas and Katherine Cossaboon and Emily Jo Stanton, sister-in-law: Karen Kim Campbell and her husband Jack Miller
Contributions in Don’s memory may be made to the Outreach Committee of Fairport United Methodist Church, 31 Church St., Fairport NY 14450 or Perinton Congregations of Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1022, Fairport, NY 14450. Services in celebration of Don’s life are to be determined due to Covid 19
