December 31, 1945 to October 26, 2020
Joseph M Cordaro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend passed away on October 26, 2020
surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his sons Nicholas (Sheila), Michael and Matthew, 5
grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was pre-deceased by his parents,
Joseph and Yolonda Cordaro and his sister, Rosemary Colombo.
Joe grew up in Rochester, NY where he was a talented football player and track runner. He graduated from Monroe High
School in 1964. Joe proudly served in the US Marine Corps. Semper Fi! He married Linda Tronolone in 1969. “I love you
more today than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow” By Spiral Staircase was their wedding song and how he lived
his life with Linda.
Joe spent a couple years driving moving trucks for Mayflower before joining the carpenters union. He spent a few years
in the union before deciding to venture out on his own as a contractor specializing in kitchens and baths; Cordaro Construction was born. They soon moved to a small farm in Marion, NY for ten years, where he enjoyed coaching his son’s little league baseball teams. In 1983 he moved to the village of Newark, NY where their sons were attending St. Michaels School and Joe coached Matthew’s basketball team. Joe was a great cook and the kitchen was always open to his sons’ friends who have fond memories of those meals. Becoming an empty nester in 1998, they moved to Cayuga
Lake in Seneca Falls and he enjoyed the “Lake Life” where the projects were endless. A workshop addition on the garage, a downstairs bedroom addition on the house so the family could all come home in the summer were the first projects.
He spent many hours in his workshop building furniture for his children and toys for the grandchildren. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with family and friends. Many water skiers had their “first pull” while Joe was at the helm.
He was known to captain the boat for hours on end to accommodate the skiers and tubers. He loved to motorcycle and especially enjoyed the weekend trips he took with his sons for Father’s Day. He loved being “Papa” to his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with them. Receiving their videos, pictures and phone calls were the highlight of his day especially during difficult times.
In 1989 Joe was diagnosed with degenerative heart disease culminating in a heart transplant in Dallas, Texas in 2014.
He fought hard each day to live life to the fullest and stayed active as possible until the last few months. His strength, determination, and stubbornness made him one of a kind and he will live on in our hearts forever.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joe’s memory to Disabled American Veterans https://www.dav.org/ or Donate life https://donatelife.ny.gov/State.org. The greatest gift of all is to become a donor yourself; 95% of Americans are in favor of being a donor but only 58% are registered.

Mr. C was one of the sweetest, kindest, and most gracious men I knew. He and Mrs C. were always opened their home to myself and my husband Brian when we were in the Rochester area or when our families were aways for a holiday such as Easter. He was a strong, admirable man. He will be greatly, but always remembered!

It was both an honor and pleasure to share some moments with Joe. He always made us feel welcome and appreciated. It was easy to find wisdom in his advice, humor in his stories and love in his heart. Rest In Peace. Our thoughts are with Linda, Nick, Michael, Matthew and the rest of the family.

OMG What a shock to hear that the most wonderful, strongest man I ever knew has passed over. Joe and I shared many of our most fun times together, and I’m sure we will reunite on the other side. I loved him dearly.
