Terry Davenport (age 82) passed away November 9th surrounded by his family. He is predeceased by his daughter LeeAnn. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, his children Todd (Amy), Melissa (Ted), and Scott (Jennifer), his grandchildren Kate, Paige, Tess, Ellie, Nora, Adam, and his brother Arnold. Born in Utica, NY, Terry lived and raised his family in Penfield, NY. He graduated from Utica Free Academy high school in 1956. After serving in the US Army he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. He retired from the Rochester Telephone Company in 1993 after working there for more than thirty years. Terry was an avid woodworker and enjoyed spending time cheering on Syracuse Orange basketball. His greatest joy was spending time with family at his cottage in the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River. Terry called the cottage his “best investment,” and created an incredible legacy where family and friends have gathered throughout the years and will continue to create lasting memories. When one of his granddaughters was born with Cystic Fibrosis, Terry became a passionate supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We will miss Mr. Davenport greeting us on the dock and inviting us up to relax on the deck and catch up on the latest Grindstone news. He was warm & welcoming and so proud of his family. Godspeed Mr. D.

Our heartfelt condolences to the entire family. I so enjoyed visiting that cottage! It is true, it was his best investment. I have fond memories of driving around Chicago in his pick up truck with Melissa during our early Chicago days! Continue to make wonderful memories at the River because that is exactly what he would have wanted.
