Donald Clarence Schindler passed away peacefully on January 24, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He is predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Schindler and brother, Kenneth Schindler. He is survived by his wife, Sally Schindler, daughters, Cathy Lahr, Nancy (David) Standinger, sister-in-law Shirley Schindler, grandchildren Joseph (Annie) Griffo, Chad (Cassandra) Griffo, Gregg (Ilana) Griffo,Adam (Meghan) Stephens, Kimberly (Bryant) Myers, and several great grandchildren.
He was a military veteran, having served in the navy during the Korean War. He taught Technology for many years in the Bighton, East Irondequoit, and Penfield School Districts. Donald enjoyed fishing, woodworking and golfing in his spare time. He was a longtime resident of Pittsford, and in more recent years, Perinton.
A Celebration of Donald’s life will be held at St. John of Rochester Catholic Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, New York, Friday, July 30th at 11AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made to : Saint John of Rochester Catholic Church. A celebration of life memorial service will be held this upcoming summer at the discretion of his family.
