Paul R Adamo of Fairport New York passed away on July 10th He was born on May 24, 1954 in Brooklyn New York, to Joseph and Rosemary Adamo.
Paul was a graduate of Bishop Kearney High School where he excelled in football and received a scholarship to the University of Wyoming. He received his college degree from RIT majoring in criminal justice.and was the Quarterback on their football team, he still to this day holds all of the RIT passing records.
Paul began his career Guidance counseling at East Ridge High school, where he was an assistant coach for the football team.Paul was an avid sports enthusiast, he was known as Mr. NFL on all of the sports talk radio shows in the Rochester and Buffalo area during the 80’s and 90’s, he also wrote many sports articles for the local papers.
Paul is survived by his mother Rosemary Adamo, his siblings Joseph Adamo, Deborah Adamo and Lisa and Steven Capri, Cynthia Stewart, and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father Joseph J Adamo.
Paul will be remembered for his quiet strength and devotion to his family especially to his nieces and nephews. He was always there when they needed him, always supporting them in their endeavors whether it be in school or sports.
Funeral Mass Tuesday July 21, 2026 10am at Church of the Assumption 20 East Ave, Fairport.

What a kind and gentle man Paul was. Always there for his parents and his family. There are some things that words cannot express. His sudden passing is one of them. May God’s Peace be with Paul. He was a blessing to so many. He deserves nothing less.

I met Paul a few times after Mass at Assumption when I was waiting with his mother. Our connection goes all the way back to Farmingdale & the Fdale Hawks.

When people talk about Uncle Paul, they’ll remember that he was a great football player. They’ll remember his accomplishments, his talent, and the way he competed. But those of us who knew him best will remember something even greater—the man he was.
To his family, he was always there. He showed up, not just when it was easy, but whenever he was needed. As his nephew, one of the things I’ll cherish forever is that he never missed one of my football or lacrosse games—from Little League all the way through high school. Knowing he was there in the stands meant more than I can put into words.
We all loved sports and did our best to compete, but Uncle Paul was a rare athlete and an even rarer man. He was someone who made every niece and nephew feel important, someone who gave his time, his encouragement, and his love without ever asking for anything in return.
His legacy isn’t just in the games he played or the memories he made on the field. It’s in the lives he touched, the family he loved so deeply, and the example he set for all of us.
Uncle Paul, thank you for always showing up, for believing in us, and for loving us so well. You’ll always be remembered, you’ll always be missed, and you’ll always be loved.

Sorry to hear about the passing of one of our basketball regulars and on of the really good guys
I’am going to miss my brother, Paul dearly. Football season is coming up soon and I would watch the games at my home in Florida and he would watch them here. It was the NFL and college. We would call each other at half time and discuss the game. I always told him about my life goings on and he always gave me good advice. He always asked about my two sons. He always wanted a family of his own and especially children. Sadly it never happened.

I was (still am) in total disbelief when I was told of Paul’s death. Still can’t grasp it completely. He was such a great guy. Fully devoted to his family, especially his mother, Rosemary. Will miss him dearly. Prayers for the Adamo family.
