Jeanne Marie Dwyer Alexander
November 22, 1941 – March 27, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeanne Alexander, who departed on March 27, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by family.
Jeanne was born in Rochester, NY, in 1941, the second of three children to Madeline and Emmett Dwyer. She grew up in their home on Jefferson Road in Pittsford, where she created countless cherished memories—and a bit of mischief—alongside her beloved siblings and best friends, Diane and Patrick. Her bond with them remained one of her greatest joys throughout her life.
After graduating from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1959, Jeanne went on to study at St. Catherine College in Kentucky. With a love for children and teaching, she began her career as a primary school teacher, bringing warmth and enthusiasm to her students. In 1965, she was set up on a blind date with Robert (Bob) Alexander, and the spark was immediate. They married in 1966, and soon began building a family.
Being a mother—and later a grandmother—was Jeanne’s greatest joy. She embraced these roles with boundless love, unwavering devotion, and deep kindness. Her children, Robert, Richard, Martin, and Heather, were the heart of her world. She raised them with unconditional support, instilling in them the values of faith, respect, love and gratitude. As a grandmother, she continued to share her kind, playful spirit, creating cherished memories with her grandchildren that will live on for generations.
As her kids grew, Jeanne returned to college to earn her BA in Communications from St. John Fisher and pursued a career in public relations and writing. Later, Jeanne spent many years as a realtor. She was a brief member of the Hibernia Irish Society, where she enjoyed marching in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, celebrating her Irish heritage with joy and pride.
One of Jeanne’s greatest joys was traveling with her family. She made wonderful memories on trips to the Adirondacks, Florida, Ireland, Hawaii, and her many visits to Whidbey Island.
Jeanne has been reunited in eternal rest with her parents Madeline & Emmett Dwyer; her husband Robert H Alexander, Jr., her brother Patrick Dwyer, and many cherished relatives and friends. She is survived by her sister (Diane); her children, Robert H. (Hongtham), Richard (Pamela), Martin (Maureen), Heather (Aaron); her grandkids, Jack, Ryan, Thien, Grace, Emma, Maddy, Emmett; and many nieces and nephews from the Luke and Dwyer families.
Calling Hours to celebrate Jeanne’s life will be Wednesday April 2 from 5-7 pm at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday April 3, 2025 at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption, 20 East Ave. Fairport.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation in Jeanne’s memory to Highland Hospital Hospice Palliative Care Fund at https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/highland/giving

Bless the memory of my dear friend, Jeannie, We had wonderful times together , for so many years , since sophomore year at Our Lady of Mercy.
Peace and love to Jean’s family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who would treat her family to a weekend in the Adirondacks every Columbus day weekend where they created many happy family memories. Fishing and campfires were especially fun. May these memories bring you comfort and joy.

Mrs A was always so good to me and such a friendly person. She always wanted to know how I was and how my family was. I will truly miss her and I’m grateful I was able to get to know her and be a part of her large family.

We had many a great time with Jeanne at ERA Paul Fischer Realty. Jeanne was always ready to pitch in and have some fun. Whether it was an office sales competition or participating as a cast member in our Haunted House fun raiser for ERA and muscular dystrophy, Jeanne was ready to get involved. Such great memories! Sending your families warm thoughts and hoping you too have great memories to help ease your loss.
My condolences to her family & friends. Although we only had a brief encounter when she sold our mother/ father’s home, I remember Jeanne as a very kind sweet person. Now being in real estate myself, I can appreciate all of her efforts. My you rest in peace Jeanne.
Jeanne and I were good buds from the early 90’s on.
Jeanne was blessed with a great sense of humor and love.
It’s been many years since our paths have crossed, but I know we shared good hearts,
compassion and integrity. We always put our clients first and shared some moments when we should have been appreciated but were not!!
I will always cherish our friendship
