Robert F. Aman of Fairport, New York passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, dedication to service, and a spirit of adventure.
Robert shared 69 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diana Aman (Blair). Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a proud father to Rick Aman and his wife Cheryl of Marion, and Donna Bell and her husband John of Irondequoit. He is also survived by his brother Larry Aman and wife Marilyn.
To his grandchildren—Jennifer (Andy) Thistle, Kristin (Alex) Bell, and Robert (Kari) Aman—he was lovingly known as “Papa,” a title he wore with great pride. His joy grew even more with the arrival of his five great-grandchildren, Quinn, Reagan, Avery, Maxine, and Robin, who brought him endless happiness.
Robert served his country with honor and dedication for 44 years in the Army National Guard, including 38 years at the NY ARNG Combined Support Maintenance Shop C in Henrietta, New York. Beginning his career as a painter and mechanic, his hard work and leadership led him to rise through the ranks to become a Chief Warrant Officer 4 before his retirement. His commitment to service and quiet professionalism left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him.
Outside of his military service, Robert embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He and Diana shared a love of travel, exploring many countries throughout Europe together. Beginning in 1992, they created another cherished tradition—spending their winters in Hawaii, a place that brought them peace, joy, and beautiful memories. Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, Robert laughed generously and loved to share stories of his life’s many adventures.
Above all else, Robert will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His kindness, steady presence, and deep love for his family will remain with all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption of Our Lady Church in Fairport, New York. A private burial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the American Heart Association.

Aunt Diana, Rick, Donna and families I am so sorry for your loss. Wish i could have been there today. I’ll always remember Uncle Bob as kind & caring with a great sense of humor. My condolences to all.
