Ann was born on October 30, 1934, at Highland Hospital. She grew up on Asbury St. in the Southwedge neighborhood of Rochester with her family. She attended St. Mary’s elementary school and Our Lady of Mercy High School where she graduated in 1952.
After graduation, Ann worked for Stromberg Carlson as an administrative assistant. for many years. It was at Stromberg Carlson that Ann met her future husband, Chuck. They were engaged on April 1, 1954, and married the following November 13th. In 1957 they welcomed their daughter Gerianne into the world and in 1961 their son Tom was born.
After leaving Stromberg Carlson, she worked at the JC Penny Store in Pittsford Plaza. Going there to earn extra money for Christmas, she would stay for 30+ years moving her way up from gift wrapping to Personnel Manager.
Anyone who knew Ann knows that she enjoyed many things. She loved to travel. She enjoyed her cruises to Jamaica, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caymen Islands. She also loved travelling to Las Vegas, driving the Pacific Coast Highway in California as well as visiting Niagara Falls, Boston and Washington DC.
Ann was also an avid sports fan. Though she didn’t play, she enjoyed watching golf weekly with the Masters being her favorite tournament to watch. She was also a huge fan of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
Ann was also a music fan. She had an eclectic taste in music. She could listen to Pop, Big Band, Frankie Valli, the standards by the Rat Pack of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and one of her all-time favorites Johnny Mathis. Many trips to Melody Fair in North Tonawanda gave her the opportunity to see the likes of Johnny Mathis, Glen Campbell, The King Family, and Sammy Davis Jr.
In her later years, when she was limited because of Cancer, she continued to enjoy all sports, watching football, baseball, and golf on TV, as well as current events. She enjoyed watching old movies on Turner Classic Movies especially if they were westerns. She also enjoyed having a beer or vodka on the rocks with friends!
Ann was especially interested in the lives of her granddaughter and grandson, Megan and Matt. She loved them dearly and was very proud of the adults they have become. She was so happy to attend Megan and Evan’s wedding in September 2020, and enjoyed hearing the future wedding plans for Matthew and Emily.
Ann was loved by all that knew her. She was a loyal friend and enjoyed meeting and talking with people.
Ann lived by herself in Fairport with some struggles in the last two years but still managed to make her own meals and visit friends in the apartment complex where she lived. Ann was blessed to live the last 10 days of her life at the Advent House in Fairport where she received compassionate and loving care from the nurses, volunteers and her family. Aunt Ann, I have really missed you. I remember all the years we have spent with you and the family. All the talks we’ve had on the phone. Some of them were funny and some were serious. But I always enjoyed it. Thank you for all of it. I love you and now I know your with your family members. You’ll always be in my heart. Love Deb
To Ann’s family ;
Thank you.
Thank you for being so grateful for all those who were in your mother’s life.
It was a privilege for me to come beside Ann and you in the final few weeks she shared with us. I always feel so honored when I can assist someone in life and the reward is great in a special connection, brief as it was.
Tucker and Milla will be looking for her warm lap to snuggle on!
Blessings to you all.
