Allan Backus of Fairport, NY passed away in his home on December 23, 2025 at the age of 79.  Born on April 28, 1946 in Buffalo, NY to Clayton and Margaret Backus, the youngest of three children.  Following high school, he started his vocation as a Tool and Die Maker in Rochester.  Ultimately settling in Fairport, NY where he raised two children.

Al was known for his kindness and being a good friend, with a cheeky sense of humor.  He was a lover and collector of classic automobiles often found with friends at local car shows.  Possessing an innate mechanical ability, a jack of all trades able to fix and build anything. Always willing to share his talents with friends and family, to finish any project they had started.

He is survived by his son Gregory, daughter Marci and sister Karen.

Preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Margaret, sister Beverly and nephew Christopher.

A service will be held on Friday morning at 11 on the second of January 2026 in the Creations Chapel located at White Haven Memorial Park 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Allan’s passing. I’ve delivered meals on wheels to him and Sharon for many years. He’s was always so kind and we had many very nice conversations.
