  3. Rod was my father in law who we all cared about very much. Rod was a great father, grandfather, and friend to me. Rest in peace Rod.

  4. Where do we start? In the early 1980s we bought a house on Ayrault Rd and our son started a paper route. One day he came home all excited saying you have to come with me to this house – this man has all sorts of old cars. And within a few years, inspired by him we also owned a few! And so it began. Many car shows with Rod and Carole. Weekend trip to Carlisle PA to attend a huge car show/flea market. Weekly events at Carmine’s in Henrietta. Oh, and then the weekly stock car races at Spencer Speedway and 5 cent bets on who would win. After the loss of Carole weekly dinners with him and some friends at Flakes – where he actually caved in and played his $5 free play and made $40!!! The t-shirt picture is from there. One of the ladies we ate with called him dense one night. The next week he pulled some stunt and another calls him an a..hole. Then the next week was his birthday and the server asked how old he was and when he told her she said wow you are well preserved. The following week one of the gals presented him with the t-shirt with all 4 words on it. He LOVED it, often wore it there. Joe and I were friends for years with Rod, storing both of is cars in our barn for winters up until the end. So many wonderful memories of a truly good man.

  5. So sorry To hear Rod passed. He had a long and wonderful life. My thoughts and prayers go out to Darren, Rhys, Tyler, those who loved him and the Baetzhold family.

  6. No matter how much we plan for these things, it still is hard to accept when that day comes. I’ve known your dad for just about 30 years and he truly was loved. I know Abby and Ryan are going to feel the loss since he was such a wonderful grandfather to them. He couldn’t have asked for a better daughter and son-in-law.. Continue to honor him the way you have. I wish there were more people in this world like your dad.

  7. Condolences to the family. I am so sorry to hear about Mr Baetzhold’s passing. I remember our trip in the RV to Colorado and sleeping in hotels instead of the RV. Talk about riding in style. I enjoyed going in the garbage route and getting the expired candy from his route and the treasures. I love the family outings to the cottage. I was jealous of the 1966 mustang Carrie drove. He was truly special.

  8. So sorry to hear of Rodney’s passing, our condolences go out to your family. Rodney was a wonderful man and will be missed.🙏

  9. Dear Carrie and Family,

I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your father, Rodney. He was not only my uncle but also such a kind and gentle presence our family. I will always remember his warmth, his love for cars, and the way he carried himself with such grace. He was also so very handsome 🙂

May he now be at peace, reunited with the love of his life, Aunt Carole, and may their love continue to watch over you all. Please know that my heart and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

    With love and sympathy,

  12. We are so sorry to hear of Rod’s passing. Our condolences to your entire family. We’ll always remember him fondly, for his friendly waves and occasional discussions. I’ll never forget talking with him about the latest project car of his or putting the vinyl stripes on his Dodge pickup. He was always easy to spot around town, with the Nomad or old Ford convertible. Every vehicle he had was a unique reflection of him. He will be missed.

  13. Very sorry to hear Rod’s passing. Rod was a fine and upstanding gentleman. Please accept our condolences.

  14. Rod was a great nextdoor neighbor! He was a pretty private guy and kept to himself but would always take the time to stop and chat and do what ever he could to help you out. We could not have asked for a better guy to have as a neighbor! He will be so missed! Seeing him drive past the house in his truck every morning I’m guessing going down to Derk’s for breakfast.
    God bless him!
    💔😢🙏

  16. Deepest sympathy to the family. I worked for Rod and Bob all through the 1970s. So many great memories. Including the candy on Thursdays route. To this day, I’ve never enjoyed a job more. Rod was a huge part of that. Loved his old cars. Probably part of the reason why I have one myself. Much respect from my family. Tim and Carol Kester

  17. To Rod’s family,
I’m so sorry to learn of the passing of Rod.
As I was cleaning out an old wallet this morning and I came across a HUNT Real Estate business card Rod had given me with all his information scribbled on the back.
I looked up his name and came across this notice.
I first met Rod at the old Fairport Donut shop. I was drawn in by the old car in front as my grandfather taught me how to appreciate the beauty a good classic.
Rod was a classic in his own right.
Our meetings became more frequent and a semi regular breakfast date on Saturday Mornings at Durf’s. Many happy memories.
We talked of many subjects and through many trying times. He talked of his beloved Carrol and his wonderful family.
He listened as I ranted about my turbulent life, which never seemed so bad by the end of breakfast.
He shared his concernes, fears, and of course love of cars.
He felt blessed by the life he lived and the loving family and friends he was surrounded by.
As I look at the photo on this card, I am reminded of a very kind man who took the time to share a cup of coffee and a season of friendship.
I actually saw Rod earlier this year in a store and that smile still had the same effect it always did, a warmth of caring and comfort. I am grateful to God for my times with Rod. I pray for peace in your hearts.

  18. I’m so sorry to have just learned of Mr Baetzholds passing. Yes, he was a very private man. I’ve lived near him for some time, and we passed waves, and short hello’s.But i had a seated conversation with him at his kitchen table a couple years ago, and I got to listen to some stories he shared about his cars, and his wife, and living on Sandpiper Hill. I could see and hear how much he missed her. I heard he had gone for care, and I’ve been watching to see if he would return. I’m so sad I won’t see his Saturday morning car rides. But I am greatful for meeting him, and having this fond memory. May he rest peacefully now.
