Huguette Marie LaVoie Baker

February 14, 1941 – June 25, 2025

Huguette Marie LaVoie Baker was born on February 14, 1941—our Valentine baby—in Jacques Chrystome,  just outside of Montreal, Canada, to Mary and Hermas LaVoie. The only daughter among nine children, Huguette grew up on a farm surrounded by her beloved brothers: Raymond, Yvon(Kay), Clement(Marilyn), Fernand, Benoit(Sharon), Gilles(Maria), Dennis, and Robert(Barb). She was born between Clement and Fernand, and held a special place in the heart of her family.

At the age of 12, Huguette and her family moved to the United States, settling in Chateaugay, New York. It was there that her journey in a new country began.

After living in Chateaugay and Malone, Huguette set out on her own at 19 and moved to Rochester, NY. She earned her business degree from St. Joseph’s Ursuline Academy and began her professional career in finance at Yawman & Erbe. Later, she joined Rochester Community Savings Bank, where she built a fulfilling career that spanned 18 years. She was deeply admired by her coworkers and cherished by her many loyal customers.

While in Rochester, Huguette met the love of her life, Terrence Baker. The two eventually settled in Fairport, NY, where they built a warm and loving home and raised their two children. Huguette was proud of her many accomplishments, but nothing brought her more joy than her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Terrence Baker; her children, Michael Baker and Laurie Argeros; and her grandchildren, Haley Argeros, Olivia Argeros, and Jake Baker—each of whom brought immense pride and happiness to her life. Also many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Huguette will be remembered as a spirited, vibrant woman with a sharp wit and an even bigger heart. Her quick humor, radiant energy, and deep love for her family and friends left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. She brought joy and laughter into every room and lived her life with strength, grace, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
