Baldwinsville: Dr. Joseph A. Battaglia, 92, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dr. Frederica Donahue; his children Joseph (Karen), Robert (Ria), Jean (Carol) and John (Christine); grandchildren Lisa, Joe, Mike, Matt, Billy, Mike, Janey and Chris; great-grandson Noah; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Martin.
Dr. Battaglia was born on October 29, 1921, in Rochester, the son of Joseph and Sue Battaglia. He graduated from Aquinas Institute and St. Bonaventure University. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at the Rochester General Hospital. He worked in private practice for eight years and then as a physician at Eastman Kodak for 29 years before retiring as medical Director of Kodak Office in 1984. “Courage.”
There will he no calling hours. A funeral Mass will he held at St. Louis Church, Pittsford, Thursday, April 3, 2014, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Battaglia’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
