Fairport – passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 58. She is predeceased by her parents, Leo and Frances Lill, her birth mother, MaryAnn Urtel, her brother, Walter Buck, and her sister, Toni Dixson. Carol is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, Brian Benedict, her loving daughters, Brianna and Ava Benedict, her brothers and sister, Dale Buck, Janice (Tim) Forster, Paul Urtel, her birth father, Richard Urtel, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eileen and William Benedict, and sister-in-law, Jeanette (David) Levesque, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carol attended Nazareth Academy, Class of 1979, and directly entered the workforce. She found her passion serving others at UR dermatology, Vega Meda Spa and Vitalized Med Spa. She received multiple Strong Star Certificates of Appreciation in recognition for her dedication, service and compassion to others.
Carol enjoyed spending childhood summers at Sodus Point, a love she later shared with her husband through quiet strolls along the bluff.
She devoted much of her time and energy supporting her daughters’ interest in cheerleading as an organizer, fundraiser and coach. One could always count on her for advice about cosmetics or shopping as she had a talent for makeup and hairstyles.
Mostly, Carol will be remembered as someone of keen intelligence and ready wit.
Calling Hours are Tuesday, July 7th from 3-7 PM at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Fairport. A Funeral Service is Wednesday, July 8th at 11AM at Pittsford Community Church, 421 Marsh Rd., Pittsford.

Brian, Brianna, Ava, and family so sorry for your loss. She is now in heaven looking down on all of you! She fought a tough battle! She was so brave. She was an amazing friend and I will forever cherish all the memories! You all are in our prayers as you go through this difficult time. Love you all! She will be greatly missed!
Carol was my daughters cheer coach. She was devoted and loved supporting her daughters high school cheerleading squad. She was funny and always had a smile on her face. My Condolences to her husband and daughters. She will be missed.
