Pauline Boroski passed away peacefully on April 25, 2023.  She lived for 101 years and 101 days.

Pauline was born on January 15, 1922.  She is survived by her son Richard Boroski (Kim Wightman), daughter Sharon Klock (Dave), grandson Chris Boroski, granddaughter Laura Klock Herbert (Paul), great grandsons Jackson and Tyler Herbert and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents William and Katherine Kretiv, husband Walter Boroski, and older siblings Steven Kretiv (Mary), Anne Sanford (Sam) and Mary Drozinski (Stanley).

Pauline and her siblings were born in NYC to Ukrainian immigrants.  The family moved to rural Broadalbin, NY when she was 2 years old.  For much of her childhood they had no electricity, indoor plumbing or telephone service.  She walked a mile to a 2 room schoolhouse for her elementary schooling.  She was a voracious reader all her life and loved school, but she left after 10th grade to earn a living.

After she married Walter on November 24, 1945, they built a home next door to her childhood home on Union Mills Road in Broadalbin, NY.  She worked at times as a nanny, made gloves in a factory, and helped Walter sell potatoes that he grew on his parent’s farm.  She had two children.  Sharon was born in 1951 and Richard in 1953.

When Sharon was a senior in high school, Pauline went back to school to get her GED, so she graduated high school the same year as her daughter, just for fun.  She enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and canning the harvest.  She also loved running the wood splitter and stacking firewood after Walter, Rick and Dave cut down trees in the 20 acre woods behind the house. She was an excellent cook, pie maker, and enjoyed hosting many family dinners.

Walter died in 1992 and she continued to live in Broadalbin until she moved to Fairport, NY when she was 80 to be near her family.  She lived mostly independently until she was 98 years old when she was admitted to the Fairport Baptist Home.

Most of all she will be remembered as an exceptional and very loving Mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a very smart, kind and selfless person who always put her family and friends first, and was loved by all.

A graveside service will be held when she is buried next to Walter in the Union Mills Cemetery, Broadalbin, NY.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
