Passed away on May 16th at the age of 96.

Howard was born in Seneca Falls, NY and grew up on a working farm which was appropriately located on Boyce Rd. in Ovid. As a young man, Howard always had an interest in cars. Together with his brothers they started and ran the South Seneca Speedway which was located on part of the family farm. Howard’s love of cars resulted in his life-long career when he started Howard’s Mobil Service in Ovid. He ran the service station for over 50 years and was well known for his kindness and honesty. Howard was the kind of man who people liked and considered a friend even if they had only met him once. He was a founding member of the South Seneca Sportsman’s Club and, for over 60 years, a member of the Ovid-Willard Lions Club, an organization he loved. As a lion, he earned the highest honor a member could receive – The  Melvin Jones Fellow Award, for his selfless service to Lions Club programs.

Howard was predeceased by his loving and amazing wife of 62 years – Loraine “Rainy” Boyce. He is survived by his daughter Laurie (VanNostrand) of Williamson, son-in-law Barry, 2 grandchildren – Sarah (Michael) and Aaron VanNostrand, and 2 great grandchildren.

There will be no memorial service. If friends would like, they may make a donation to the Ovid-Willard Lions Club in Howard’s memory.
