October 2, 1927-October 12, 2022

aka Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Uncle Jack, Chipper, Chippee, and Fred

Our dad told us for several years that he would be ready to go to heaven when the lord decided to come home and get him. The lord came and took him to heaven October 12, 2022 at the age of 95. He is reunited with his wife and other family members. We will miss him very much and will love him always.

John is predeceased by his wife of 60 years Barbara and his brother Timothy DuBois. He is survived by his daughters Janna and Jeanine Brackett, Linda (Jeff) Pederson, grandchildren Lindsey, Jacob and Lee Pederson, sister Claudia (William) Smith, brother Paul DuBois, brother Lawrence (Claire) DuBois, sister-in-law Mary DuBois, sister-in-law Estelle Simmons, many nieces and nephews.

John served in the US Army’s 1200th Labor Supervision CO. from 1945-47. He was a member of the Egypt Fire Department and the Egypt FD Exempt Club for several years. He started the Neighborhood Watch program and the monthly community breakfast at Gypsum Mill Estates in Victor, NY. He started a second career as a professional clown with the Griffin Alley Clowns. “Chipper” and “Chippee” marched in parades, did birthday parties, walk-abouts, appearances at schools to name a few. He shared his love of making balloon animals and flowers with the residents at Gypsum Mills, the Legacy at Fairways in Victor, NY and at Atria Penfield. He considered the Atria and Penfield Place as his “home” during the last few years of his life. We are grateful for the love and care he received at Atria and Penfield Place.

Per his wishes, there will be no Calling Hours or Funeral Service. His burial will be private.

Donations in John’s memory may be sent to the Egypt Fire Dept. 7478 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport, NY 14450.

The FHS Class of ‘77 sends its deepest sympathies to our classmate, Jeanne, and all the Brackett family on the passing of your father. Both Mr. and Mrs. Brackett were always at our sporting events and their encouragement was always appreciated. His long, productive and love-filled life will not be forgotten.

This is sad news and my prayers are with Jan, Linda, Jeanine and family. Mr (and Mrs) B were my next door neighbors and we like second parents to me. Whether is was using their pool, playing with their daughters in the air conditioned house (what a treat!), celebrating New Years together, or putting juice cans in their back yard so I could have six holes to chip around into, they were a blessing in my life. Kind. Thoughtful. Loving. I shed a tear when I heard to news but also smiled a lot with all the wonderful memories. If I were ‘home’ I would pop out the front door and yell at the top of my lungs ‘goodbye Mr B, I love you’
