Mark W. Broda
December 22, 1945 – March 2, 2026
Mark W. Broda, 80, of Fairport, New York passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026. Mark was a kind and loving father devoted to his wife and family.
Mark received an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Clarkson University and then achieved a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He worked for Harris Corporation in their RF communications division for 42 years. He ended his career as the Director of Government Programs. The radio programs he oversaw helped our law enforcement and military communicate more effectively throughout the world.
Mark loved all aspects of engineering and had a remarkable ability to repair anything and was often referred to as “Mr. Fix-it” by his family. His passion for engineering has inspired his eldest grandson to follow the same path.
Mark was a kind and loving father devoted to his wife and family. He loved to attend nearly every baseball and soccer game of his grandsons. He also loved watching his granddaughters play basketball either in person or online. Mark was most proud of his grandchildren’s academic achievement and their drive to succeed.
Mark was happily married to his beloved wife, Sue, for 55 years. They loved entertaining and being together with their close group friends. Mark also wholeheartedly supported his wife’s business for ten years until they both retired in the same year. After retirement they enjoyed travelling extensively throughout Europe and the United States.
Mark was a quiet pillar of the community. Devoting his retirement to volunteerism. He volunteered countless hours at the Village Tool Shop. Helping start and grow the organization that has given back so much to our community. He was devoted to the Perinton Food Shelf starting in 2008 as a food packer and taking over as Treasurer in 2016, serving in this role until his passing.
His memory lives on in his loving wife, Sue, his brother David Broda (Marty), his daughter Elizabeth Hoffman (Ellis); three grandsons Andrew, Peter, and William, his son Michael Broda (Suzanne); two granddaughters Claire and Aubrey.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 am on Friday March 6th, 2026, at the Church of the Resurrection in Fairport. Reception will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Perinton Food shelf or the Tool Thrift Shop would be greatly appreciated. Mark was a cherished husband, father and grandfather.

I have very fond memories of my time working for Mark. HE was a great leader and mentor. He will be missed. My condolences to all who loved him.
Mark was such a giver of his time. We counted at Resurrection for years and he was always a cheerful partner.

Very sad. Mark was a great colleague and I learned tons from him My condolences.
Mr. Broda was a constant presence in my life while I paled around with Betsy (Elizabeth), and was always a kind and patient father and friend to me. We loved participating in his last-minute Christmas shopping adventures, and he was always willing to take Betsy and I to Packetts landing for one adventure or another. He was a wonderful and lovely part of my childhood and I am grateful to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
So very sorry to find out Mark has passed. I worked at Harris for 41 years, a lot of them with Marks programs. I am sure he will be missed by all the family and friends.
RIP my friend.
Our condolences go out to you and your family. I was on a communications committee with Mark at church and my husband worked with Mark at Harris Corporation. Also, so many years of seeing him at Church of the Resurrection. He will be missed by many. With prayers and blessings to help you through this difficult time.

My dear brother Mark was always there to help me solve any and all projects I was working on especially the ones involving electricity! He carried on the tradition set by my father Walter that a Broda can fix anything and I am sure that is where he garnered the Mr. Fix-It moniker. RIP brother.
I am deeply saddened by Mark’s passing. He meant so much to me and to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
When I first joined Harris RF Communications, Mark was one of the first to welcome and guide me. As my mentor, he showed incredible patience, generously shared his wisdom, and offered steady encouragement during those early years. He always made time to help and genuinely cared about seeing others succeed.
I am truly grateful for his guidance, his support, and the example he set each day. His influence on my professional journey has been lasting and meaningful, and it is something I will always carry with me.
My heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to Mark’s family. I worked for Mark on many projects over the years at Harris RF. He was a gifted engineer and an honest manager. RIP Mark.
