Megan Broomfield
November 21, 1972 – January 28, 2026
Megan Broomfield, age 53, of Fairport, NY, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Megan lived her life with passion, generosity, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family, community, and profession.
Megan is survived by her beloved husband, Billy Broomfield; her cherished daughters, Delaney and Kennedy Broomfield; her best friend and walking partner, Laurel Broomfield (Dog) of Fairport; her devoted mother, Mary Beth Barry of Watervliet; her brother, Kevin Barry, and sister-in-law, Karyn Barry of Glenmont; her sister, Bridget Barry of Slaterville Springs; her brother-in-law, Chris Broomfield of Fairport; and her treasured niece and nephew, Henry and Sutton Broomfield of Penfield. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Megan was a respected and accomplished leader in the accounting profession. She served as a CPA Partner at Mengel Metzger Barr & Co. for 26 years and was the Founder and Chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative Committee. Her dedication, mentorship, and leadership left a lasting impact on countless colleagues and clients.

Beyond her career, Megan was deeply committed to service and community involvement. She proudly served on the boards of Ronald McDonald House and Geva Theatre. She volunteered extensively with the Rochester Businessmen’s Classic, where she previously served as head of the committee, Ronald McDonald House, Fairport Music Festival, and the Fairport Cheerleading Booster Club, among many others.
Megan found her greatest joy in simple moments—tending to her plants, taking long walks with Laurel and Billy, spending time with her family, and cheering on those she loved. She was fiercely loyal, endlessly supportive, and known for her warmth, humor, and strength. To know Megan was to feel encouraged, welcomed, and loved.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairport Music Festival in her honor, which supports The Golisano Children’s Hospital.

She was one of my biggest supporters. She came to virtually every show, and was a huge supporter of my career in music. Every time she spoke to me I can tell how much she cared about me and how much she believed in me. A truly truly wonderful human being. Best neighbor ever. Love ya Meg. <3
I hope you know how very much we all want to help you through this time, please find some comfort in knowing every life Meg touched she gave her sole being and her love was everything! Oh my friend, words cannot express the emptiness I feel right now. You are so much to so many people, you are my calm and forever saw the good in me and I will forever be grateful for that. How do we go on without your laughter, your smile and the light you brought into every room you entered. Love you beyond measure and so honored to be to be a small part of your life. I will keep you in my heart always and until we meet again soar with the Angels and rest in peace.
Dear Bill, Delaney and Kennedy and Laurel too,
I am so saddened to hear of Megan’s passing. I remember you all from days at Seasons Childcare where I was both in the office (with my chocolate lab Bailey) and in the infant/toddler rooms with the girls. Megan would come in so tall and beautiful like she was gliding thru the air. What a terrible loss for everyone. Please know you all left such an impression on my heart and I’ve thought of you so often. God bless you all as you navigate this time without her.
Love,
“Miss Debbie” Benack

Shocked and saddened to hear about Megs passing. Our deep condolences to you, the girls and your entire family. God Bless.
I have worked with Megan for nearly 20 years. She was going to come to my retirement party when she was told that she had to go to the hospital. When I checked in with her the following Monday, she never mentioned that she was still in the hospital. I thought that we was home and doing well. I am shocked and greatly sadden by her passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of her family. Megan often talked about her daughters. She loved you both very much. May God bless and be with you all.
Megan was my colleague at Mengel Metzger Barr and Company (MMB+ Co) for the past 26 years.
I write to accentuate to readers how Megan’s passion for excellence in all she did permeated all of her work and interactions with colleagues, friends and clients.
Megan contributed an extraordinary amount to supporting and developing colleagues at MMB, who benefited immensely from the huge amount of her time, energy, and caring that she gave to them. Amazingly, along with that passion, Megan also brought much laughter and a wonderful sense of humor. She reminded us to take issues and goals seriously, but to never take ourselves too seriously.
She received many well-deserved accolades for her professional achievements and always remained real and down-to-earth. The Good Book says “humility goes before honor”, Megan had both.
Megan pushed continuously and forcefully for what she understood to be in the best interest of all she interacted with. She supported you when you were right, told you when you were wrong, and was always fair and objective.
Remembering Megan reminds me of the poet A.E. Housman’s words, “what golden friends I have.” Billy, Delaney and Kennedy, Megan was a golden friend to me and to so many. Megan’s tragically early departure from this world robs me and her other colleagues and friends of a compatriot whose intelligence, passion and great sense of humor enriched the lives of all of us. We will work diligently to keep her with us in spirit.

Although she was a familiar face at the office and we had chatted on a few occasions, I regret that I did not know Megan well. But her many accolades and especially the warm tributes from friends, family, and others to whom she was acquainted stand as a testament to the remarkable life she chose to live—one of passion, purpose, and integrity. And even in doing so, I’m certain she could not have recognized the magnitude of her own impact, each passing day adding incrementally to the proud legacy we are now left to remember.
To those who knew Megan as a wife, daughter, mom, or dear friend: My heart is with you. How blessed you are to have known her love so deeply. You have not left my prayers since last week.
