In Loving Memory of William (Bill) H. Broomfield

Bill Broomfield, age 82, of Fairport, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A son, brother, father, uncle, and friend, Bill lived life with passion, a touch of rebel spirit, and not one to sit still for very long.

Born on August 8, 1942, in Canandaigua, Bill grew up with a love for baseball, especially the Yankees — a devotion he carried proudly through every season, win or lose. His love of baseball grew into an enthusiasm for all sports, leading him to open a sports memorabilia store in Fairport called The Bull Pen. He loved sharing this with his children and the Fairport community.

After Bill’s retirement from Eastman Kodak Company at the age of 50, he began running 5Ks. He developed into a marathon runner and completed over 20 races. His biggest accomplishment was running a marathon on all seven continents.

When he wasn’t following his beloved Yankees or running marathons, Bill could be found on his Harley. He took two extensive cross-country trips on his bike meeting countless people along the way.

Bill was also a loving father, always showing up when it mattered. He taught those around him the importance of loyalty and living life on your own terms.

He is survived by his daughter Heather (Kevin) Rickett of Bloomfield, and son Rob Broomfield of Lima; grandchildren: Abby, Samantha, Jordan, Colin and Kannon, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday April 16, from 5-7 p.m. at Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Village Location), 41 S Main St, Fairport.  A Service will be held Thursday, April 17 at 10 a.m. at Keenan’s Funeral Home (Village Location) for close family and friends.

As Bill requested, family and friends are invited to “A Farewell Bash for Bill” at the Underpass Bar and Grill at 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.  Beer will be flowing.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, attn: Foundation, 350 Parrish Street, Canandaigua, in deep appreciation of the extraordinary care and support provided to Bill and his family. Their compassion and dedication will never be forgotten.

“Ride free and rest easy, Dad. We’ll see you down the road.”
