Fairport, NY — Vera M. Brydges, 94, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026. Born
on September 10, 1931, in Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, and was the daughter of Archie and Lena Bonneville.
Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband, George L. Brydges, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Vera leaves behind her daughters, Brenda (Paul) Haley and Jocelyn (Greg) Fisher, who will forever cherish the love and memories they shared with their mother. She was a devoted and much-loved “Nana” to Erin (Edward) Reed, Robert (Michelle) Fisher, Katelyn (Elliot) Weaver, and Steven (Kaitlin) Fisher, and a proud “Great Nana” to Elliana and Emma Reed.
Vera and George shared a wonderful life together. They were longtime members of the Church of the Assumption in Fairport, where they enjoyed being part of their church community. They could often be found together on a golf course, enjoying a little friendly competition. They also loved to travel and spent many happy winters together in Florida, making memories along the way.
For Vera, some of life’s greatest joys came from being with the people she loved. She treasured family celebrations and especially loved Christmas, when the house was filled with family, laughter, and traditions. She took great pride in her home and loved tending to the beautiful flower gardens surrounding it, where her green thumb was always on full display. But for her grandchildren, Nana was so much more than the holidays and family gatherings. She was the Nana with the full cookie jar and a freezer always stocked withice cream. She was known for her unforgettable sayings, her contagious laugh, and her competitive spirit that was sure to come out during a game of cards. These are the little things that made time with Nana special—the things her family will remember, smile about, and carry with them for years to come.
Vera’s greatest legacy is the love she gave to her family. She created a home filled with warmth, laughter, good food, flowers, and memories. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren and was happiest when everyone was together. Her family will miss her deeply, but they will continue to find her in the traditions she created, the stories they share, and the countless memories that will always bring a smile.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fairport Rehab and Nursing Center for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Vera during her final days.
Friends and family are invited to attend Vera’s Funeral Mass on Monday, September 21st at 9:30am at the Church of the Assumption, 20 East Avenue, Fairport, NY 14450.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Vera’s memory to Pluta Cancer Center. Pluta holds a special place in our family’s hearts, as they continue to provide dedicated care, support, and hope to a beloved member of our family.
Vera will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her laughter, her warmth, her traditions, and most of all, her love for her family will remain a part of them always.
