Burkhart (Vane), Karen E.

Karen E. Burkhart (Vane)

On Saturday January 7th 2023 Karen passed away peacefully with her family beside her after a short battle with esophageal cancer. She is predeceased by her loving mother Wilma Bean, and father Roland Burkhart. Karen is survived by her daughter Angelina, Husband Leo, four brothers Jim, Tim (wife Lisa), Sean (wife Rayna), and Bryan, along with nieces and nephews Kelsey, Nick, Lily, Matthew, and Nathan. As well as her lifelong friends Reba Collins, Sue Silver, Roger Smith, Cheryl Iacuzza, and Teri Drew.

Karen was born and raised in Hornell NY alongside her brothers. Being the only girl in the family she was pretty tough, participating in many sports such as soccer, softball, and track. Karen Graduated from Alfred State before moving to Rochester. She had a passion for horses and loved anything with the color red. When moving to Rochester Karen began working at Big Boys restaurant, later moving to Brandy’s and the Fairport Village Inn. After getting out of the service industry Karen began working at Photikon, Eagle Vale golf course, and cleaning services.

In 1997 after struggling with previous pregnancies, Karen finally got her “miracle baby” Angelina. Full of joy and light, Karen was the best mom a girl could ask for. Teaching through example and guidance, always lending an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on for her baby girl.

Karen found her true love in 2000, marrying Leo in 2004 to begin their lives as husband and wife. Karen and Leo were adventurous and fun. Karen always enjoyed having fun and that’s exactly what they did. Always.

Karen enjoyed spending time at Shorts Bar and Grill with her many friends sharing laughter and love. Karen had an infectious laugh and smile that would light up the room wherever she was.

Karen will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. We will always remember the selfless, kindhearted person that she was and keep her with us forever.

Please join us Sunday, January 15th for Calling Hours from 11:00 am -1:00 pm at Richard Kennan Funeral Home (7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd. Fairport, NY 14450) and Monday January 16th at 11:00 am for the service. Please let Angelina know if you would like to speak at the service.

We will also be going to Shorts Bar and Grill to celebrate Karen’s life after the calling hours on Sunday at 3pm.

Forever and always in our hearts, until we meet again our sweet angel.

Many of my childhood memories include Karen and Angelina, living on Parker St in Fairport. Parents hanging out as us kids play in the hot summer sun with our kiddi pool. Tons of sleep overs, carnivals.. you name it.. all beautiful memories. Karen you fought hard just like you always did for everything you loved including your daughter. You will be greatly missed. Angelina has one heck of an angel looking over her now. Rest easy Karen xoxo

What a great tribute to Karen. It’s been some years since I’ve seen her but will always remember her with a smile. Lot’s of memories from “back in the day”. My thoughts and prayers are with Leo and Angelina. Rest in Peace now Karen. No more pain and suffering.
