In Memory of

David W Burnett

1936-2022

David W. Burnett, 86, passed peacefully on November 27, 2022.  He is predeceased by his wife, Rose Lynn and his brother, Tim Burnett.  He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Evan) Stein, Christopher (Andrea) Burnett, Robin (Andrew) Rice and Barbara Cox; grandchildren Royce, Regan, Jackson, Grace, Ella, Emme, Michael and Lindsay; brothers Michael, Peter and George; and many nieces and nephews.

David was born in Worcester England and came to America when he was 8 years old.  Raised in NJ, he spent most of his adult life in Fairport NY.  After raising two children, he met and married his soulmate, Rose Lynn.  When they decided to build their dreamhouse in Fairport, David designed a beautiful home overlooking the woods of Vineyard Hill to share with is bride.  They loved hosting family dinners and sharing the natural beauty that surrounded their home.  Travel was a passion for the couple as they toured the world on Crystal Cruises.

After 25 years at Kodak as an engineer, David started his own business to provide consulting services to businesses across the country in support of Total Quality Management.  As he neared retirement, he focused on supporting local businesses and found himself busier than ever.

David’s love for music and tennis brought him great joy and helped him fend off the challenges Alzheimer’s brings.  As his brain began to fail him, his tennis family helped make sure he still made it to his tennis matches – and he continued to play a mean game of tennis until he moved to Vermont in 2019 to be near his daughter for the final years of his life.

He’s touched many lives in Vermont but is returning home to Fairport to be laid to rest with his wife.  Calling hours will be Wednesday December 7th from 4-6 and will be immediately followed by a short celebration of his life.  Please join his family at Richard H Keenan Funeral Home at 7501 Pittsford-Palmyra Road in Fairport.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).

Dear neighbor and fellow lover of tennis for many years, your friendship over the years meant a lot to me and my wife. Watching you enjoy maintaining your beautiful house and yard meant a lot to us. Rose Lynn was a joy to know and was over to share a welcome to the neighborhood and a delicious baked item she made for us. Seeing your slow fight with alzheimers was very difficult, but watching you play tennis at the club was encouraging. The world will miss you my friend. See you again someday and we will have a game on heavens courts!

David was special and a inspiration to me. He could play two consecutive – very competitive- tennis matches, at age 82 . For his last two years at TCR,, he would often sit around and sub for guys who did not show up. When he could not drive anymore, several of us guys would pick him and we enjoyed his company. . I will continue to miss him.! Terri Thompson
