Charles Edward Busch(Chuck) passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2020.
Chuck was born on July 23, 1927 and raised in Rochester, NY, the son of William and Clara (Rauber) Busch. Chuck attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School graduating June 1945. He joined the Navy that July where he attended basic training at USNTC, Sampson, New York. Chuck attended submarine school and later was assigned to the SS-409 for the duration of his enlistment and discharged in July 1948. From there, Chuck attended ASUNY Champlain College graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree. Chuck later met Barbara Byrnes and married September 24th, 1955. Chuck made a career working for Delco Products, Rochester, New York, where he eventually retired. Chuck and Barbara resided in Pittsford, New York, where they raised their three sons.
Chuck was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid painter, Yankees fan and fisherman and was proud of his hops and craft beer. He enjoyed Scouts, camping, hiking and playing the harmonica. Volunteering at the YMCA as a swimming instructor specializing in teaching autistic children was especially important to him. Chuck, and his wife Barbara, were parishioners of St. John’s of Rochester (SJR) and he was an active member of the SJR Men’s Club. Later in his life, he took up hunting ducks and white tail deer, a passion passed down by his father to his sons. Chuck, lovingly known as “Papa” to his family, had the most warm and kind spirit.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Byrnes) Busch, and three sons – Michael Joseph Busch (Maureen) Stow, MA, William E. Busch II (Jennie) Carthage, NY, and Richard Charles Busch (Elaine) Livonia, NY. Chuck took pride and was dearly loved by his seven grandchildren; Michael Joseph Busch Jr (Carly), Sean Busch, Rachel Busch, Mackenzie Busch, Joshua Busch, Jonathan Busch, and Emily Busch and one great-grandchild, whom he adored, Madelynn.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday June 18, 2021 at 11Am at St. John of Rochester Church, Fairport.

I love you, Uncle Chuck! I hope you’re enjoying that beer with my Dad! Peace to all the Busch Family…..and hugs too. Please know you are surrounded in love and prayers!
Hey Papa, we are so happy you were able to remotely attend our wedding in October. I’ll miss having a tall glass of your homemade beer with you, and firing up the model train set for one last spin.
So sorry to hear of your loss! May he Rest In Peace!
Chuck will certainly be in that from row seat in heaven. We’ve know him since the 70’s and chuck was a true gentleman.
May your many memories surround your family with love.
Chuck and I connected later in life when he found my name among his Father’s photos and papers regarding Ash Pond Hunting Camp in the Adirondacks. His Father Bill was the best friend of my Uncles. Chuck phoned me and we met to share photos and stories of Bill and my uncle’s and I was blessed with the equivalent of a nephew with his son Rick. The world is less without this man of love for family, country and friends. The world is blessed with his three sons and their families who reflect his values.
Chuck’s smile could light up a room! Going to miss him and his contagious smile! A very caring man with the kindest of hearts who could always put a smile on your face.
Bill,
I am so sorry for your family. God Bless you guys during this difficult time.
