Suzanne Buttaro, 77, passed away at Rochester General Hospital on April 16 after a long illness.
Predeceased by her first husband David Rao, her husband of 35 years John Buttaro, Jr., her beloved mother Arlene V. Bliss and two sisters, Linda and Zilpha. Also predeceased by her father Louis R.Youngs and brother Steve.
She is survived by devoted daughter Kim Ayash, cherished grandchildren Brendan and Bethany, several nieces, nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
Entombment at Creation Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534. There were no calling hours. Family and close friends will gather for a private celebration of Suzanne’s life.
At the young age of 22, Suzanne escaped an untimely death when an aneurysm burst in her brain. She had already had a child, been widowed and had remarried. It seemed God knew her purpose on earth hadn’t yet been fulfilled. So, after a long recovery, she went on to live a very full life with her new husband John who helped raise her only daughter, Kim.
When Suzanne’s grandchildren were born, they became the light of her life and the center of her world. There is nothing she didn’t do or wouldn’t have done for them. Brendan and Bethany will remember their grandmother with deep affection as she was a constant and loving presence throughout their lives, from childhood to young adulthood.
Suzanne delighted in celebrations. One of her favorite things to do was to dress up for Halloween and visit friends and family just to see if they could recognize her. She poured her heart into even the smallest details of Christmas and Easter to make certain her family members felt the warmth and magic of the holidays.
Playing all kinds of word and number games was a lifelong passion for Suzanne. Bingo, crossword puzzles and cards were among her favorite pastimes. She played as often as she could. If there is a card table or Bingo hall in heaven, she surely has already pulled up a chair and is laughing with old friends who have been saving her a seat.
Suzanne truly appreciated life’s simple pleasures and even found joy in routine tasks like doing dishes and folding towels. But she also loved a good cruise vacation. Cruising brought out her sense of adventure and these memories were undoubtedly among her happiest.
Her final cruise was in July 2022, a special mother-daughter trip to celebrate her 75th birthday. It was a journey filled with laughter, sunshine and unforgettable memories. Even while very ill in the hospital, she never lost hope. She spoke often of getting better, dreaming of just one more cruise surrounded by the people she loved most. That spirit, that hope and that love will remain with family and friends always. She will be deeply missed, forever loved and fondly remembered.

This is a beautiful tribute to your mom, Kimberlina. You were the apple of her eyes, through highs and lows. You were a devoted daughter to your mom. May she rest in peace and enjoy the freedom from her body here on earth. May her soul remain in your heart and memories shine on.

This is beautiful, Kimmie. I am so blessed to have had her in my life. When I think of her, I think of gentleness and she will be remembered with every gentle breeze that refreshes us when we need it most. I remember how she loved to play games and all the times you all came to visit us in Depew, all the adults playing cards while we played, ran around and watched movies. What great memories. I remember how she enjoyed washing dishes, a task that I don’t enjoy all that much but I’ve been thinking of her every time I do the dishes these past few days. She was one of the most beautiful people, inside and out, that I’ve evern known and I’m so proud to have been able to have a sister such as her.
