Cannan, Kathleen (Anderson)

FAIRPORT – Kathleen (Anderson) Cannan, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2022, from complications of Parkinson disease, with her loving family by her side.

Kathy was born on June 29, 1941 at Highland Hospital in Rochester. She had a twin sister, Maureen, and together they were as close as any two sisters, let alone twins, could possibly be.

Kathy grew up in the City of Rochester and attended St. Michael’s School and in 1959 graduated from Nazareth Academy. In November 1965, she married the love of her life, James Cannan. Together they had two sons, James and Michael and had many happy married years together, the total would have reached 57 this November 27th

Kathy’s enjoyed all of her different jobs, initially at Xerox and after taking time off to raise her two sons, she resumed with jobs at two banks, a credit union, a dental office and caring for two elderly friends.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents William and Eleanor Anderson, in-laws Bernard and Rosa Cannan, twin sister Maureen Ellingham and brother-in-law John Cannan.

Kathy is survived by her husband Jim, sons James (Suzette) of Farmington and Michael (Barbara) of Cornwall on the Hudson, NY. Her five grandchildren, who she loved dearly, are Sean, Samantha, Sidney, Charlotte, and Jaycie. She is also survived by her brother James (Diane) of Irondequoit and brothers-in-law Tim Ellingham, Bernard (Pat) and Frank (Lori) Cannan and sister-in-law Kathy (John) Inzana, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Central to Kathy’s life story is her deep faith in Jesus Christ and her daily devotions and her numerous acts of charity. She was a long time volunteer at the Church of the Assumption. There is no doubt that Kathy has lived a good life, fought the good fight and now rests in the peaceful arms of her dear Lord, Jesus.

Calling Hours will be November 11, 2022  from 4 – 6PM at Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport . Blessed. Absolutely blessed with having Kathy in my life. I believe the Lord placed her and I in the same place, at the same time to meet each other, and there is no coincidence in the Lord. We met in the hospital when her Son, Jimmy, and my Daughter, Sabrina were born. From that moment on, my life would never be the same because of my friendship with Kathy. She laughed with me, she cried with me, she supported me and worried about me. She gave so much and never asked for anything in return. She was nothing but love. We knew each other nearly 54 years as our babies we had, their birthdays are soon, in November.
She was a very special person not just in my life, but to all she
Knew and those she just met.
She lived her life caring for those around her and raising her two Sons, Michael and James, to be men of honor and and as kind as their Mom, and was a wonderful wife to her husband, Jim.
I was very fortunate to be given the gift of Kathy in my life.
I will miss you greatly, Kathy and thank you for loving me. Say hello to Maureen and I know you are so happy to be together again.

We love our dear friend, Katarina as Denny always endearingly called Kathy, and she loved it! The day we met was a true blessing as a beautiful relationship began between the four of us. We’ve had so many good times and memories. Kathy was so outgoing and caring. Everyone knew her and we kiddingly called her the mayor of Fairport.. Kathy was a very faithful person who was a loving, gentle and caring soul and who also had a little impish side to her, that always.made us laugh. . Our precious friend, our lives our better for having you in it. We know you are at peace now. We miss you and will keep you in our hearts, Love you, Katarina! ❤️❤️

I remember Kathy and Maureen from Ave. D playground and Nazareth. They were always my favorites. My son owns the Box Factory in Fairport and I would occasionally see them around there..

My condolences and love to all the Andersons and Cannan’s. Thanks to our modern age technology, I was able to be “present” at my beloved cousins funeral this morning. I loved seeing Kathy and Jim’s children and grandchildren, nieces and nephew and of course her her brother and sister in law. Many of the younger generation, I have never met. It was a beautiful service quite befitting a beautiful person that I feel blessed to have known and loved I will pray for all as you grieve and remember all the wonder times you had together., I will miss her.
