Capozzi, Nicholas Anthony

Nicholas Capozzi passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2023 at the age of 90. 

Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Angelina Copozzi and his brother, Salvatore Capozzi. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Diane Capozzi, his children, Robin (Charlie) Uline, Nicholas M. Capozzi, Michael (Tammy) Capozzi, and David (Marlene) Capozzi; his brother, Peter (Louise) Capozzi and sisters, Betty (James) Coffin and Marie Copozzi; grandchildren, Benjamin, Joshua, and Mackenzie Uline, Christopher Capozzi, and Justine Milazzo; great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nicholas was born on January 24th, 1932 in Glen Cove, NY. As a young boy, he moved to Locust Valley with his family, where he worked as a mechanic in his father’s service station.

Nicholas joined the US Air Force in 1950 at the beginning of the Korean War. He had basic training at Sampson Air Force base in Romulus, NY. He later was stationed in Alabama and South Carolina where he met his wife, Diane. They got married in 1955 and moved to Long Island where they had four children. In 1972, the family moved to Fairport, and he worked for Xerox as a manufacturing engineer for over 20 years. Nicholas and Diane then moved to Victor in 1987. 

Nicholas was an avid reader who never stopped learning; he loved studying genealogy and how to speak Italian. He was a private pilot and loved airplanes. Nicholas also enjoyed motorcycling, bicycling and sailing. He even built his own sail boat by hand. He was involved in Boy Scouts and was a scoutmaster for Troop 283 in Fairport. 

Nicholas was a faithful Catholic; he was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Fairport from when it was first built.

Nicholas’ Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12th at 11:00 am at the Church of the Resurrection (63 Mason Rd, Fairport, NY 14450).

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Friendly Home of Rochester (3156 East Ave, Rochester, NY). 

Special thanks to the staff at the Friendly Home for the special care they gave Nicholas for the 4 years that he lived there.

    Nick, thank you for all of the wonderful memories we will treasure always. Holidays, summer picnics, Sunday dinners, award ceremonies with the grandchildren, you were always there! I will miss seeing you during Holy Week that we shared for many years going to mass. We love and miss you. Love Marlene, Christopher, and Justine.

    My deepest condolences to the Capozzi Family. I have wonderful memories of Folkside Lane and the Boy Scouts. Mr. Capozzi thought me how to make a baked apple on a camp fire. He will be missed and in my prayers

    David,
    My condolences on the loss of your father. I am a parishioner at Resurrection, I didn’t know your father at all nor your family. However, I did watch and listen to your words rememberance of your dad. Wow! He must be beaming on what you said. I I learned and believed that your father had a deep faith.. You conveyed his faith to us all so well. God bless your father and his family. Peace.
    PS I’m also a native Long Islander, I grew up in the Farmingdale Melville area. I went to college at St John Fisher, and stayed after.
